My go-to theory is that flashbacks happening after Skif touches the artifact in his ending are the visions he had. This artifact can be a monolith shard urging Skif to venture into the zone to set it free. At least, this way his motivation is more explained than “My apartment was destroyed”

S2 Map Theory: The C-Con had so much control over the zone that the zone "folded up", distorting space itself and in the time between SoC and S2 the zone "unfolded" again to its true geography. Would also explain why SoC and CS feel so fever-dreamy, as opposed to CoPs more "grounded" feeling.

If you want to 'canonize it' As someone who anticipated shadow of chernobyl for 2 years, I didn't even reflect on the reorganizing, because it's just the result of the devs being able to create the world they originally intended... Sort of. The original vision was to recreate the entire real world exclusion zone more or less to scale, and have vehicles to make travel manageable

Technically Renegades or bandits that took over a renegade base can be found in STALKER 2. When accepting a quest for barkeep he sends you to the Red Forest to kill some bandits. Their buildings garage door has a Renegade Scorpion logo. Either these bandits are still Renegades or the Renegades guarding the Limansk Bridge in Clear Sky used it as their HQ and evacuated the compound after they found a route towards limansk.

I really like that they implemented this turf war idea in Stalker 2, with the Hord, Waran and the Armory(in german "Rüstlager" dont know the english name rn.) .

My theory regarding the ending of Skif is as follows: Let's assume that the Zone is a manifestation of the collective subconscious (i.e. the noosphere). After the destruction of the C-Consciousness, the Zone gains some kind of self-awareness and now exists on its own, as it pleases, but still within the framework established by the C-Consciousness. After Skif goes into the capsule, he, de facto, removes all restrictions. Kaimanov, who actually stood at the origins of the Zone's formation, but did not become one of its tyrannical patrons, does not so much die in the end as "merge" with the noosphere as a result of the emission. Faust, through the prism of the Monolith, perceived the Zone as a greater good, so my suspicion is that the Zone also "absorbed" him after his death. Therefore, both Faust and Kaimanov, whom Skif sees at the end, are only an emanation of the Zone, communicating perhaps not so much with Skif as with the player, breaking the fourth wall. This is supported by the fact that Faust is blind, but when we see him in his deathbed illusion and at the end of the game, he is sighted. At least, this is my canon - at the end of the game, the Zone, through Kaimanov-Faust, addresses the Skif-player.

Where as Scar's ending, his brain is so screwed up that by giving himself to the CC - he spreads his lunacy unchecked. And with SIRCAA, Agatha takes control of the Monolith and STALKER initiative and Skif becomes one of her best agents at dominating her rule.

Scar wasn't nearly as tragic as Strider. I mean the guy's brain was partially fried every emission in Clear Sky and he merely got lucky until the final moments where he became brain dead and repurposed by Monolith. Where as Strider was only trying to be free of the confines only to ultimately fall victim to its ever powerful brainwashing presence, he had no control of his actions and killed people - those he knew, called friends, and or complete strangers who were merely in his way.

See that’s the weird thing. The first 3 games called it psy-emissions and pronounced it like “sigh” but in Stalker 2 all of a sudden it’s psi. I just opted to say the current games version assuming that was correct pronunciation all along. That’s not the only word they do this for which is strange.

Skif's ending is kind of good too though. It's poetic. The guy we play as has lost nothing and in his desperate attempt for vengeance to take back what is his ends up opening his eyes to the world of the Zone and in his final moments he realizes he will never be the same going back to a home that wont be there. In losing it all, he gives his soul to gain everything but as a result, the Zone erupts throughout the world.

Funfact: havens finished d the video yet so dont know if you mention it but a lot of the elements and story from this game are straight out of a sci fi Russian book called roadside picnic, in the book its about a town that's visited by aliens but many things strange happens to the town. In the stalker games the anomalies are from it, in the original book their called ditches, I'm also pretty sure that in the movie adaptation "stalker" there's a scene where one of the characters uses metal boots to trigger the ditches/anomalies

I think most of the mutants, rats, dogs, etc, are the result of the super soldier program early animal testing. The program evolved to clones and created pseudo giants, controllers, etc, and eventually monolith was the end result. Stalker 2 really ties the story from the previous games together

Also Streylok's ending providing DLC potential seems likely as Containment in these kinds of stories rarely goes over well. Sooner or later someone will find a way to breach in or out of the Zone. Maybe they're gunning for C-Consciousness wheich has Skif ultimately trying to hunt them down all Clear Sky Scar vs Streylok-like or someone is attempting to escape and the result could lead to the world undergoing Skif's alternate ending. How cool would that be if we get STALKER 3 in the far future where in the Zone has spread throughout the world and we're just some soldier from Camp Pendleton now thrust into Emissions in San Diego / Inland Empire / LA

In my headcanon "coupons" as currency is a little bit like medieval style promissory notes that have a set value only in a certain region that you can then exchange for actual currency from your home nation once you leave the zone, as STALKERS are multi-national and Russian Rubles have much less value in 2021 due to recent events.

I was so hoping that Strelok would be the best ending but Skif’s ending is by far the best, but I do believe Strelok’s will be the canon ending as most players would go for his story considering he’s been the main character of the series despite only being playable in the first game. Scar’s ending is easily the saddest one and the fact that he only lives out a fantasy for the rest of his days (Skif too maybe?) surrounded by illusions of his friends is just so heart breaking. Strelok’s brainwashing barely worked for a time but Scar was not only scarred on the outside, but his nervous system was messed up from getting hit with so many emissions and then his mind was harmed so badly by the C-Consciouses STALKER program. The Ward ending is obviously too trivial for Skif since he just gets a new house and that’s it whilst the Ward now controls everything and has all the data, and the possibility that he’s actually an agent that doesn’t know he’s being manipulated is also a little out there. I wish there would’ve been a Monolith ending where Skif actually joins Noontide but instead of following Strider he goes with Faust and they bring the Monolith back to full strength and the Monolithians get their own ending where everyone in the Zone either joins them or is killed. With it showing a massive amount of Monolithians in the CNPP praying and chanting as the Monolith speaks to them, Faust and Skif right next to it.

I finished the game, got the ending where Skiff gets into the capsule and feel myself dumb. Please explain a couple of things: As I understand it, the artifact appears in Skiff's apartment not randomly? Skiff was “programmed” to fulfill someone else's will all along? Or everything he did was of his own free will and his sincere decisions? Did Faust physically die in the middle of the game or was it an illusion? At what point did he/his mind(like, as Marshall --> Scar) replace Doc? Or was Doc an illusion all along?

The stupidest part about the the story in S2 is Faust. You get to Wild Island and the first thing you see is some ex monolith soldiers arguing in front of a make shift wish granter. You find similar structures all over the map and it's explained that Faust is preaching to his fellow ex Monolith friends. Then shit hits the fan and we all wonder what went wrong and who's behind it. When I first encountered an ex monoilith soldier (tied to a side quest) he sits next to a wishgranter in an attic and you're like: "idk but OK, I guess". But then this scene with Faust happens and I'm staring wide eyed at my screen, like. "Are we for real here?"

I find it interesting that Chernobyl is the "centre" which would imply that beyond the area you're in, there is "the rest of the zone" that goes all the way around it. Thay being said, I suppose it could be some weird 'illusion' and that the map is just meant to represent a circle around the heart of the zone. Anyway, if it is the case that there's a swathe of the zone not on the maps we've already encountered, who knows what could be there.

Scar was already an agent of C-Con before he was taken in by Clear Sky, you can find the PDA about this inside the old base house of Clear Sky (In the room where the og Clear Sky begins). His character arc is kinda weird here since he received Marshal's memories except the original Spark was not eradicated until after the events of CoP - far away from the events of the end of Clear Sky where Scar gets melted yet again by his now third emission (Catching Strelok at CNPP). Scar's whole character in HoC feels kinda forced and filled with plotholes imho for the sake of nostalgia, a damn shame imho.

The thing is that we don't know how long it takes to reprogram an agent or what scar was even doing after clear sky. I'd say there's no real plothole, just lack of information. What I got from the games is this: clear sky happens, scar survives his third emission at the end of the game and gets put in the program. Spark gets established in CoP and eventually becomes its own thing, maybe after ozersky leaves to lead malachite? Up until spark gets raided by ward we have no clue what was going on with scar, all we can understand is that at some point marshal, a member of spark, gets captured by c-con and his personality and memories are transferred to scar. I may be wrong, but ever since the clear sky ending all the way up to the point when scar gets injected with marshal's memories and gets made into an agent, which was at least a couple years, we have no info on what was going on with him

strelok ending just makes it back to shadow of chernobly, while might be fun, its still going backwards. while maybe some openness come in the form of the wards backers declare an allout war to retake the zone... see its just replaying all the original 3 games. everyone wanted the zone and the c-con and monolith defends it ward ending pretty much checkmate, noone can do anything without them knowing hence a revolt against the ward or more precisely wards backers is impossible scars ending, well we are all zombies in a sense.... this one might be interesting if this ones gonna be the canon ending, the zone now is just a massive brain scorcher, skifs ending, this gives a lot of differing plot points, playing as sfik again might be impossible, since we are in the pod, even if we came out of the pod after "freeing" the zone, idk if its possible, or do skif need to be kept inside to let the zone stays free?? my guess we will play as faust in the dlc with skif ending, remember even if we picked all the other ending, faust is still somewhere, and there is not enough info about faust and the dr persons, is the dr real and faust just replace him?, is the doctor and faust is the same person?, or the doctor and faust are a diffrent individual, but faust just happens to copy the dr when stalker 2 started, remember the dr is character from the very first games, is the doctor in soc actually faust?
