I have a ginkgo tree and I was thinking about having it removed from my property. I am glad I watch this video and I will not cut down my ginkgo tree thank you

It's a beautiful thing, how life pans out. My grandpa had a ~10 year old gingko when i first saw it. A beautiful specimen. He didnt know much about nature, but he loved that tree. Never trimmed a branch and its main trunk never broke. I climbed that tree countless times to the top, to sway with it in the wind. Always seemed like a unique tree to me. Decades later and I just bought one the same day I heard the heartbeat of my first child in the womb. It's for them. I love nature in ways my grandpa cant understand, but he planted that seed in my mind. And here I am watching this video. Funny how that works. Thank you

Planted a Gingko for my newborn this summer as well. I like the duality of this brand new little human life, and this ancient tree species

The Gingko is truly a fine specimen. How blessed we are to have such an amazing tree in our world. I am truly honored.

I recently discovered the Ginkgo, saw them in the Japanese gardens in Dubbo NSW Australia when on vacation. They were beautiful trees not so old maybe 40 feet tall and in colour. I collected seeds and now have 16 trees that have sprouted. They are a fascinating tree that should do well in our area. I have not spotted one in our town of Yackandandah that has a lot of deciduous trees. We have more than an acre, with many maples and some oaks of different varieties and the golden Ginkgo colour will make a great contrast in autumn. I really cannot fit 16 trees on our block, but will plant as many as I can. Family members are keen on the leftovers.

Here where I live in the San Francisco bay area, I have two that I planted in my front yard. I was going to plant palm trees in the front, but I ended up planting them in the back. Palm fronds don't fall off every autumn. They also don't turn a brilliant yellow color like the ginkgo trees do. They're incredible trees. One of my favorites.

The ginko one of my favorite trees next to the bald cypress. Great presentation and enjoyed the video.

Funny, those two were the first two we got..

You might already know this, but look up the insanely interesting history of the dawn redwood. They’re almost indistinguishable from bald cypress but have an amazing backstory that rivals the Ginkgo. And you can find them at many nurseries.

Great video! I have to respectfully disagree with his phylogenies. Gymnosperms are a monophyletic group. But Ginkgo is the best taxon and I loved seeing all the fossils.

When these aberrations occur and the male plant produces seeds, are they viable seeds? Can they germinate and grow?

Smell is a subjective thing - the ginkgo fruit don't smell like vomit to me at all. I think they're more like a combination of ripe papaya and sweaty feet; and while not exactly pleasant, I don't find it overpoweringly bad.

I find this very boring. Dreary photos...dreary voice. He never mentioned, to my awareness, that the female leaf has no split in the leaf. The male leaf has.
