Was Longo let go due to a post game blow up with some players? CJ Williams mentioned Longo recruited him so he gives him “grace” for what happened. Then Fickell mentioned his lack of leadership or something like that. Another podcaster mentioned he saw Longo walking towards the McClain center after the game which he never saw before and Guiton running after him. Everyone is assuming it’s just due to Longo’s offense not working in the Big Ten but it seems like something happened.

I'm reading into what you're saying. Fickell said it was the decision made Sunday after that talked. Something did happen post game. But Fickell been working on firing Longo for a while I think. It's def got something to do with benching Locke. One coach wanted him benched, another didn't. We shall see Saturday

WI has needed a qb capable of running for 20 years. It's a big difference maker in college and most qbs at this level aren't good enough passers to stay in the pocket.

Mobility is essential. But doesn’t need to be dual threat. Just mobile enough to escape pressure at least some of the time.

Most of the recent national champions didnt have dual threat qbs. The most important thing is competent coaching and we wont get that again until fickell is fired.

Michigan's QB moved very well last season and the opponent did too. You don't have to be Josh Allen just need to be quick in the pocket band behind the line of scrimmage. plus Wisconsin is trying to be good long way from worrying about national title

I love Brennan Marion as a possible OC hire. I have been bringing him up before anyone brought his name up. I feel like his offensive style fits what Wisconsin wants to do, and what they could be. I just wonder if he's a good fit for the Big Ten and Fickell. His offense is literally a combination of the Air Raid, the Power Spread, the Veer, the Wing T, and the Triple Option.

Chryst as head coach and effectively OC went 1-13 against top 12 teams (proxy for playoff teams) with his offense scoring 15 pts per game. Mac has been very clear in aspiring for much better than that. Pretty quick hook on Longo especially since already has played an insane 5 top 12’s in the very early days of a massive offensive change. Looked pretty good against LSU and in the very Chryst-like wins against crappy Big 10 teams this year. But have to like the lofty aspirations!

If a coach will only go with someone they know it's a small pool. Chip Kelly is the coordinator at Ohio State now. I think the Indiana OC would be a great choice. Many will want Marion this upcoming season

I guess time will tell but I really don’t think that a new offensive coordinator is going to all of a sudden fix our quarterback problem in development or recruiting. I know people don’t want to admit it’s about whether but bottom line is most elite level quarterback talent or receiver talent prefers to go places that’s above 50° year-round.

I have NEVER understood with Wisconsin’s running game and lack of passing game why we have always gone for the most immobile quarterbacks. Most of them can’t throw anyways, so why not go after a guy who can run and add an extra layer to our running offense. On top of that, it makes your play action threat significantly more effective. Oh you think we’re going to run (again) on first down? Now our mobile QB is rolling out of the pocket and either going to hit a WR or run for 15 yards. This feels like the biggest layup our program has needed, yet not one time have we done this outside the Russell Wilson year. And look how that f’ing turned out lol, best offense I’ve ever seen this team have

You are guessing at all of this? If you bring in a solid OC, he will bond with the current QB's and assess their talent. A good QB coach can make a difference. Too much gloom & doom today. GO BUCKY.

I think “air raid”, verses just successfully passing more, didn’t work out. So, maybe a spread with a power running game is the answer and not the one back, RPO, “air raid” system. It didn’t jell in two seasons.

Would you rather have a decent record every season but ALWAYS lose to the better blue blood programs?? Or would you rather have a higher ceiling/lower floor?? Personally, I’d rather be less consistent against crappy teams and have a better chance at beating the blue blood programs when we play them…. Paul Chryst would have NEVER in a million years been able to play Penn State and Oregon that closely….. if Chryst was still the coach we would have lost by ATLEAST 30 points in both games….

I like the triple option offense idea. I don;t think we will ever get those big time receivers or QB so do something that works for OK players. and this fits with our already history of a strong run game. Get a legit tight end. I miss the ferguson and fumagali days.

The only thing I worry about with Marion is if he's a fit for Fickell. He has Air Raid concepts in his offense, and he's on record saying that he wants to go extremely up tempo and run 80 plays a game. We have barely done any of that under Longo.
