Gino's Hamburgers was a chain of fast food restaurants in the middle Atlantic states that served Sirloiners, Gino Giants, and had the franchise for Kentucky Fried Chicken for the area. This commercial was from a 1979 broadcast on WKBS-TV Channel 48 within a STAR TREK episode showing. It was taken from a VHS tape.
The Sirloiner was often compared with McDonalds Quarter Pounder, while the Gino Giant was comparable to the Big Mac. Most compared both favorably and preferred them to McDonalds' offerings.
Their slogan here was "You'll Go For The Food".

Does anyone remember the gino's giant? It was comparable to the big mac and it was good. My family would go to gino's nearly every Friday night, and I think I actually enjoyed it more than the big mac. That was one of my great memories as a kid.

Yep the Gino's Giant was GREAT!, it was better than the Big Mac!,also in NJ Gino's was the only place you could get KFC Fried Chicken (there were no KFC restaurants in NJ at that time).

sherri419 I totally agree the gino's giant was better than the big mac, and the chicken was really good as well. Like I said it was a tradition on Friday nights to go to gino's with my mom and my aunts, but we always had to make it home in time to watch Dallas.

Yes I remember Gino's was the first fast food place in our neighborhood when I was a little girl . The reason their hamburgers tasted better than McDonald's was because Gino's had teensy-weensy little pieces of onion which gave it just the right flavor . And I definitely remember the Gino Giant . I'm pretty sure that is where Colonel Sanders Kentucky Fried Chicken originated because I don't think Colonel Sanders became it's an independent restaurant up north until later . I was very sad to see Gino's get replaced later by Burger King . Burger King was good when it first came out when it actually did cook over a real open flame and they eventually did away with that as far as I know . But Gino's really brings back memories because there was nothing like that in the neighborhood before them . I remember when my older brother got a job with them in the summer and every night came home usually with two big bags stuffed with food for us to eat why we watched late night shows like Johnny Carson . Also does anyone remember the football pictures of Gino marchetti in the stores because he was the guy that created Gino's and he was a pro football player
