Christine understands the power of quiet and stillness. It can draw you in to a moment far more than a lot of histrionics onstage. Just watch her face and listen. Such a stunning scene. The entire audience was spellbound and silent in that incredible "Coming...mother, darling" moment.

I felt this in just watching the video on KZbin---I so very much regret not having been able to see this live on stage as was intended. This left me in a state of awe & appreciation. What a legacy! What a legacy!

This was the show that prompted my renewed interest in musicals. It brought me back to Broadway after a very long hiatus. I couldn’t wait to see this and it didn’t disappoint. Long time Grey Gardens fan and it definitely didn’t disappoint! In fact, I loved Christine Ebersole so much that I took my 6 year old daughter to see War Paint. Ebersole posed for a picture with her after the show which we both will always cherish!

I first saw this performance in a theatre class in college. It was life changing. I remember sitting there with a that group of kindred spirits. We were all riveted, not daring to breathe until long after she was done singing lest we break the spell. This is a full education in one song. It’s one of the best performances ever put to stage.
