It’s amazing to think this was all played by hand on a simple Minimoog, Polymoog and Roland SH2000 originally. Incredible talent. The Oboe sound and in fact most of the lead sounds came from the Roland.
@Oli197423 сағат бұрын
Exactly. I'd never say with modern tools anybody could do that, of course not. But the skills needed in these primitive days of synthesizers were incredible.
@TheCleanersCupboard16 сағат бұрын
@@Oli1974 it’s amazing. Like you say on such primitive synths too. Take Vangelis for example, before he got his first CS80 in 1977, his main synths were an ARP Pro-soloist, Minikorg, Roland SH3 and Farfisa syntorchestra. All very simple synthesizers but the huge sound and textures he got from them were out of this world. It always fascinates me.

Back then, people could actually play a keyboard. Now, it is only playing arpeggios and some LFO knob twisting…

Very close indeed! I believe in 1978 GM would have used the Moog Modular extensively, as he did on I Feel Love in 1977. It's unlikely he used any kind of sampling, so no fancy waveforms or anything. Also, I recall reading that for the high hat and triangle, he apparently used tape loops in reverse, as well as reusing them for other songs. You emulated that pretty well, though maybe the right-panned high hat could use a slightly slower attack to simulate that reverse sound. Lastly, minor thing, but to my ears the LFO on the flanger is more of a sine wave than a triangle, as it lingers a bit more on the peaks, if you know what I mean. Great job.

Hello! I think he made the bass line in one modular moog patch. In it, you can divide the sounds into two pan channels and make a delay for each one.

AHA Maestro! Getting closer to "From Here To Eternity"!?
@U20316 сағат бұрын
I think the flanger might actually a comb filter on the original track. I have no idea what they actually used but it has a particular sound as you approach the bottom of the filter and the combs line up. I'm only going on what I hear but maybe stick a comb filter on and see how that goes. The flanger does sound pretty close though.

I own the Dune 3 vst. Is the Legend HZ in any way better? The Dune plugin also has 3 Osc per Voice/Layer and i can use even 3 or more layers, which gives me even more Osc's than The Legend. And Dune 3 also has moog filters. IMHO Dune 3 is more powerful ... or am i wrong ?

Hello Dr. Claudio from Mix, I generally find your videos quite fun. However, there are a few things that have rubbed me the wrong way. The fact that you use Cubase is, in my opinion, the logical step. No DAW even comes close in comparison. Let me get back to the main topic of this video. The "Hans Zimmer Synth" - Synapse Audio. Are you aware that Hans Zimmer, just like you and I, uses Cubase? Maybe you should consider coming to Berlin for a tour. U-he worked with him on a version of Zebra tailored to his wishes. The Dark Zebra by U-he KZbin video And then there's also "Native Instruments"... For the cherry on top, though, I’d need your "yes."
