Yes, he's well known for his link to disco music -- as shown here -- but he's also been "heard" in many well-known movies. In other words, he was once a great film score composer.

That makes him one very bad ass motherfunker!!! I'm so proud to say even with me hitting 40 now, and to discover solely on my own just how great this man was at making music. I'll never forget how catchy, how amazing his talent, his theatrical music he was in charge of producing, noted greatly for films that will leave a legacy and one of a kind sound, none of us can ever forget. In the future no matter what year it is, what decade or century passes by, he will forever be inducted and his music will live on as one of the best Original musical composers EVER.

When these Moroder masterpieces came out I used to hear them at a club called Charlotte’s. It had 10 white arched rooms with connecting hallways and every room had 2 speakers, the sound was like you were floating across the universe. A sad fact, I was with a friend one night till late. The next morning he was found murdered… I was the last person to see him alive… he told me he was going to move to another country but he never got there… so Charlotte’s was a place with good and bad memories for me.

First time I heard "I Feel Love" on the radio we were all driving somewhere in the family car. My dad said, "Oh, disco..." and started to change the station but I screamed, "Wait!" and after a few seconds we were *ALL* feeling the groove, even my dad. One of the best disco songs of all time, IMO. "Midnight Run" is also one of my favorite movie soundtracks.

@@OregonDARRYL I just realized I got the title mixed up with another good but very different kind of movie! Midnight *Run* is a movie from 1988, a comedy, starring Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin and is not only funny but has a surprising amount of heart to it, whereas Midnight *Express* from 1978 and is based on a true story about an American who ends up in a brutal Turkish prison and finally escapes. Both movies are awesome but, like I said, VERY different kinds of movies.

Hearing someone else sing these songs makes one realize just how powerful Donna Summer's voice was. I once heard her belt out a note and hold it, the music stopped, and she lowered the microphone to the floor and her voice, no longer coming through the sound system, still filled the room. When she let go of the note, it was dead silent in the amphitheater and Donna opened her eyes and looked shocked because of the silence... and then someone started clapping and then the entire room erupted in cheers, clapping, screaming, and crying. At the end of the night, the people leaving the venue were talking about that magical moment, when Donna Summer made time stand still... just because she could.

I remember the first time I heard "I Feel Love" at the Bullshot disco in Hollywood. It really electrified the dance floor as it was so different from the other dance records. He gave us not only all those great tracks with Donna, but Irene Cara's Flashdance theme "What a Feeling", the Midnight Express soundtrack (killer), and he's STILL making great music! My jaw about dropped when I heard what he did with "Magic" by Coldplay (the extended version). He and Mauro Malavasi (the producer of Change) have not lost their touch despite the passage of years. Long live the Italians!

Thanks for not just quoting the few words he said in that Daft Punk song. At least YOU now the other great songs this guy has composed or worked on! Years ago it blew my mind when I discovered that a number of songs I really liked (some of which you have mentionned) were all from the same guy. What!? And yes, he still has it!

It's impossible to overstate the significance of "I feel love". It was meant to have a futuristic sound, and boy, did it deliver. It would be another 15 years or so before this sort of music -slowly- started to become mainstream.

Słucham, oglądam i piję wino.
