Tom's Diner" is a song written in 1982 by American singer and songwriter Suzanne Vega. It was first released as a track on the January 1984 issue of Fast Folk Musical Magazine. It was originally featured on her second studio album, Solitude Standing (1987), it was released as a single in Europe only in 1987 following the success of her single "Luka which reached No. 3 in the USA". It was later used as the basis for a remix by the British group DNA featuring Suzanne Vega in 1990 and became a worldwide smash reaching No. 1 in Austria, Germany, Greece and Switzerland, No. 2 in the UK, and No. 5 in the USA. It is one of my personal favorite songs from the 1990's.
