Giovanni is the best conga player ever... Period.... I'm cuban and is hard to admit it... But at the same time I know he studied the cuban percussionists and learned a lot of concepts from changito. But He has the natural conditions to be de King 👑 of congas. God bless you man. Cuba and Puerto Rico are wings of one Bird. Look to our flags. Blessings Master. You are my maestro.

one of the best musician interviews I have seen. I started playing percussion because of Gio, I have the same English accent so I understood every word he said. . Giovani, in my book, you are the best! Saludos Maestro!

Proud of my roots..I saw Giovani Mañenguito Hidalgo playing live in the mid 80s in the San Juan Heineken Latin Jazz Festival..that night changed my life for better..He is the Real Master of the Percussion Congas..pleasure to watch this interview.

When I was 20 years old, I had the pleasure of meeting him and play beside him, trading solos on the timbales;me and him back to back in Jetty Park at Cocoa Beach. And I got to talk to him after jamming out with other musicians, he told me "Be grateful/humble for your gift and don't take it for granted. And practice as much as you can, that way you can get better each day and WORK ON YOUR SIGHT READING. Because that's IMPORTANT". That was in 2010. And I'll never forget that day
