That was incredible because in part one he starts to play at a concert and it's like he's so good that as he's playing his mind looses track of what's going on and he basically falls asleep. He dreams of awaking in a quiet lonely forest while he's still flying on that cello only to discover eventually that the forest is the music and the music is life. Absolutely brilliant. The talent in this video is remarkable.

Lasse... never stop using this talent of yours or it would be a crime against humanity. Period.

in this part Giovanni plays the cello just like Hendrix did with guitar! He plays every part of the instrument with such energy. Great artistic work by Lasse as well. Two great talents, keep it going!!!

words cant express the beauty that is in the music and video combined.

Both videos (pts 1&2) are truly amazing and complement each other wonderfully; I prefer pt.2 for it's visceral nature (he plays the cello à la Jimi Hendrix (breaking conventions without breaking his cello though!) It's the first time I've come across Giovanni Sollima. He is a true cello virtuoso! (full credit to the genius direction of Mr Gjertsen - 5 stars all the way!)

The filming on this was just great. His playing is enjoyable to watch, you can tell he feels every note of the music. There's a sort of wicked feel about the song.

for joy, for the aching beauty of it, for the rightness of the forest, for the quadruple music of your visuals and his cello, I wept at the conclusion rapturous

let me just sit here for a few more minuets so i can regain conciousness... After watching all of your videos, i think its safe to say that you are jesus.. and that the Celo is one of the most beautiful instruments ever made. Giovanni Sollima you are amazing also.

i love it when an instrument feels like it just becomes an extended part of your body, this is a perfect example of someone doing this, very talented.

This is what happens when the best filmdirector/editor and the best cellist in the world meet. The thing that they have in common is that they push their instruments to the limit. Using new and unconventional techniques. This is a very high form of art and it gave me the shivers!

This is truly amazing. I am sorry to say that, before seeing these two videos, I had never heard of Giovanni Sollima. Signor Sollima is perhaps one of the greatest artists of his time, and the camera work is incomparable, especially for a self-proclaimed amateur. Bravissimo!

I was enthralled even more by the visuals of the 2nd piece -- extraordinary experience of the cello -- the rhythm of the visuals and where they position me on the cello, with the hands, in the strings, high, low, skating from one place to another like a bow -- I've never experienced music in this way before. The visuals are utterly involved in the music. I adored part 1. Part 2 moved me, seriously moved me into the music. It gripped my senses in a hyper-receptivity.
@fingyfing17 жыл бұрын
amazingly mindblowing. your work is fantastic! no one can match up to your skills. Giovanni Sollima is probably one of the best cello players i've ever heard. VERY AMAZING.
@PosterKnutbag17 жыл бұрын
blown away. the piece is very cool, i've nver heard Sollima before, dude rips it up. both pieces are strong enough to stand alone, and are disninct. but together they show a powerful juxtoposition of the experience within a creative mind, next to the intense phisicallity that channels out the expression.

I'm always excited when I see a new clip from you. As usual this one did not disappoint.
@sterowentUS17 жыл бұрын
I find Part 1 to be the perspective of the music solely, the place gone as it flows out of Sollima, the place to which the audience may be, while the second showcases the syncing of the artist and his music, the intertwining of the two more heavily! Both perspectives were brilliantly showcased. I relate to the second part more.
