A Texas family that has a daughter with Treacher-Collins syndrome was inspired to adopt a Ukrainian orphan with the same condition, along with three of her siblings.

These two little girls are so precious! They are so beautiful inside and out. God has given them forever lasting life with him when it's time to call them home to him. To not be able to have anyone come and see her was heartbreaking to me. And even though my heart hurt for her as I sat in front of my computer watching this, the lord made me realize that he was directing the right parents to come along to take her home. He also knew his plans for the two sisters from the very beginning. These parents and for all of these children that came to be are miracles and these miracles should show non believers that there is a loving god and that he does exist in everyday of our lives. I agree. Yet, I have to be honest. I am not equipped to care for a child with heavy mental disabilities because that really is a life time commitment. But for people like them, who have perfectly functioning brains and a healthy body, I wouldn't mind that. You just have to learn sign language and that's probably the only difference with having a completely able bodied child.

Rachel Darmawangsa If I am given a child without much of a choice and they have heavy mental disabilities then I will take it but I won't pick them because there are other people that will take care of them better than I can. But I wouldn't mind a kid that is missing limbs or is deaf and many other things.

Flabbymeat Yeah, if I had no choice in the matter (like if they were my child) I would defo take care of them because that's just part of the risk if you want a biological child (part of the reason why I don't want a biological child tbh). I also don't mind children w/ physical deformities because at least they can be somewhat independent sometime near the future with enough practice. However, mental disabilities (depending on severity) makes the parent/guardian their caretaker for life. So I really do laud ppl who want to adopt a mentally disabled child.

This is one reason why I believe that sometimes good things can some from bad things. If there first daughter hadn't have been born with the same condition they would have never have adopted their second daughter. Believing in this is what has been helping me through my sisters death. My sisters eyes were the only organs that could be donated and now they have helped to improve the eyesight of two strangers and in a way her death bought fort new ways to help treat people with the same condition she had

+shastapurpledaisy My sister died and her corneas were donated. I have never met the people who received them but I look deeply into everyone's eyes in he off chance I may see them/her/my family? It started when I was a kid and seemed to help me.
