What Rochelle’s mom was saying to her sounds controlling. The clause “I own you” implies slavery. Telling your child that you own them and their feelings don’t matter is verbal abuse. I think that if a child has reached the mid term teens, a controlling parent will drive that child away to a secret world. What happened in this story I place the most blame on the parents. She knew what she wanted, it was that she should have felt comfortable in going to her parents for anything on her mind. She would have been stronger to resist the wrong path, but the parents never let her, so the problem goes a lot deeper than just going to a party. Sad ending, but I can't blame her entirely when the parents are more at fault long before it came to going to a party.

@divinesolar46062 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't allow parties like that unless it were a birthday party. Typically parties involve illegal substance abuse and opens children of yours to intaking substance even with teaching as often times rebellion is in order within these. Which is demonstrated in this video as an example as well. Allowing them to go when they aren't adults is enabling them to be users of substances. You can't tell what they do once they are at a party if you aren't there. If they choose to do so at their college settings, etc. They are an adult at which point. It all depends on the "party" you allow. Just be careful what party types you are allowing.
@amylee89692 жыл бұрын
@Nicholas Johnson I agree with the fact that all kids and teens need rules and boundaries. But being over controlling and refusing to give them room to grow doesn't help the child in the long run. In fact, that sets them up for failure, as kids get older they eventfully have to learn to do things on their own and make their choices. That way, they can learn to take care of themselves as adults in the real world.

This was a heartbreaking video, but such an important message! Being a parent is hard, especially with teenagers. But it's important to keep an honest, open line of communication & trust, so that your children don't feel they have to lie to you about where they go, what they do, and whom they keep company with. I can completely understand where Rochelle's parents were coming from being so overprotective, but at the same time, I can also get why her friend's Mama lied about the "slumber party" to try to allow her daughter's friend to have some fun & freedom, nobody knew this would happen! The message here is that you should always be honest with your parents, but you shouldn't be so strict that your children feel they must keep secrets & lie to you.

Don't act like Regina George's "cool mom". But don't be controlling and make them feel like prisoners either. Allow them some independency but sit them down and talk to them about right vs wrong, set boundaries and allow your child to ask any questions and communicate stuff to you.

@@Sand-witch05 what I'm trying to say is that if you have the need to treat your child as a slave then you are no real parent just a coward just to make yourself to feel big and powerful. What happens if your kid copies these abusive actions in school this could lead to bullying dont you understand that.

I don't know any mother who wouldn't have punched Tasha in the mouth for blaming the mom for her own daughter's death
@itzcmoyeahhh28042 жыл бұрын
@WhiskyHd it was mainly the other woman's fault. She said it was a slumber party and she would be watching, not a full blown party and see was nowhere in sight. Yeah the dead girl's parents were too strict but it wasn't their fault she got killed.
@amylee89692 жыл бұрын
@Nezby Odella They're both at fault but in different ways. I agree, that the other girl's mom should have done a better job at supervision and firmly setting rules as her daughter is still a minor. However, Rochelle's parents treating her like a 3-year-old and without listening to her isn't good either. Kids need some form of independency for their development and learning to stand on their own two feet. Kids who are denied this will do anything and everything to rebel and push away from their parents. Even if it means making poor decisions.

@WhiskyHd . True but her parents we're just trying to keep her safe and the one time they actually let her go alone, look what happened. Like I said, I know her parents we're too strict but in this case, strictness would have definitely saved her life

The Gospel about Jesus Christ: God so lo\/ed the world that he gave his only begotten son for whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life John 3:16 God did not send his son to condemned but to call people to repentance John 3:17 Christ said I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the Father except through me John 14:6 Christ is the only way. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.The Bible says in Romans 6:23 for the wages of sin is DEATH but the free gift is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. We must turn away from our sins and repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ, we must become born again meaning brand new to see the Kingdom of Heaven. Satans mission is to only steal,kill and destroy John 10:10.

At 16 they are still children, a minor, at that same time they are at that age when parents need to be more involved in their lives, if parents are too controlling instead of trying to reach out to them, bad things can happen, they start to lie, and it is never a good idea to lie to their parents!!! And the girl was right, she felt like her parents were neglecting her.

I know that she preferred my brother being an Indian woman , but she always tried to cater to my needs also while fulfilling his as best as she could .

I could have buried my only baby, 18 at the time, but praise Jesus, did not. My son was going en route to my nephew's/his first cousin. Two hours from home, and his used car gave out. He was on the interstate, and went off the road into shalllow grass area, or just off-road, narrowly just in time to miss getting hit by a semi. Semi did not hit car, and my son did not end up in hospital. I am so hugely beyond humbly blessed! But please pray that as much as my son loves working on cars that he be given wisdom to buy a dependable car that needs no work done for every day use and that maybe once a year wanting to drive 4 hours to see his cousin or where have you. Bless your very spirit, and you may leave me your prayer request.

I learned one thing about house parties back in the day other people will invite their other friends which are toxic sometimes. Rochelle death was a tragic shame. I never trusted outside people even family sometimes around my kids.

A parent must always look out for their child. But when they get old enough to understand what the world is, they need to learn and live. Also a child doesn’t always have to follow their parents footsteps, they can always live their lives how every they see fit. And always come up with an emergency plan to protect them.

They wouldn't let her have a life they wouldn't let her be a teenager and they were shutting her out being selfish thinking about what they want to do what's cooking food they want to cook instead of asking her what she wanted. You see she starting to resent them because of it

Mom: I OWN YOU God: OH REALLY???? Parents need to understand and realize that a child is a gift from God, NO parent has the right to treat their child like personal property I felt the mother was out of pocket, unfortunately God will allow a situation like this as a reminder on who owns who. Im sorry for saying that but that's the unfortunate reality. I felt this was all on the mother yall saw how she was judging Sharday's mother right? I honestly couldn't stand Rochelle's mother she was sitting on her high horse thinking she's above everyone around her

I'm sorry for the parent's loss of their daughter, but this is what happens when you become too controlling of your kids once they reach their teens. I agree with some of the comments here that when a parent becomes too strict, that will push their teen son or daughter away. I get that most parents want to protect their kids from harm and that's ok, but there's a point where you have to let your kids go and let them live life instead of controlling everything they do because another thing parents like these need to take into consideration is when you control your kids to an extreme, they grow up into an adult that depends on their parents instead of living their life to the fullest and doing things on their own. As for the girl's parents, they're at fault for pushing her away, being cold hearted. I'm not saying they got what they deserved, I'm saying is their actions caused all this mess.
