Michal's spirit was moved there instead. that's why the reason the doctor was still able to administer the shot. Michal wasn't in possession of the demons power anymore, just the residual instinct of it's use.

@@FameOfMaintenance i think the director of the movie was just being cheeky by decieving the viewer into thinking the transfer was a success. thats all. the demon didnt actually transfer and it was the demon still in michal's body who made the doctor administrate the shot. so in the movie Ruby and Michal got decieved while outside of the movie the viewer got decieved

Demon tricked the mom and chose the little girl, but then can be transferred years later because...reasons? Demon can effect whoever it wants, where ever they are, despite the host not knowing the location of that person? Tranquilizers chill the demon, yet it remains aware enough to maintain its self preservation, except when they transferred it into a condemned host? Demon can travel around killing on a whim, remotely from the unaware host but doesn't know the thoughts of its host, except the subconscious ones? Who wrote this? I can hardly wait for the sequel, where Michal joins the Navy and becomes a SEAL and becomes an unstoppable killing machine.

Yep, this is a pretty big plot hole. The rest of the film looks pretty cool and internally consistent, but it makes no sense that the demon who said "nah, gonna take your girl instead lol dumbasses" would willingly transfer to the father, who the demon didn't want and knew was going to be executed. And there's no explanation for how they could unwillingly force the demon into a different host, especially when Michal was wide awake. My take: the demon just played along with their scheme, used it to get their hopes up, then rebounded back into Michal even stronger and completely took over her body when her dad died. It's the only thing that makes sense.

I haven't seen to movie, but from the recap the rule is the demon can control people that are acting/conspiring against it, the host is just an anchor to the mortal world so distance isn't an issue if the demon knows who you are and are a threat. When the host is sedated the demon is stuck in the host with minimum control of the outside world. The demon never acted against the psychic, so it was probably the demon that wrote the note and got rid of the girl's soul into her father. without the soul the demon can control the girl's body now.

The demon can actually still control what goes on even when she sleeps, I believe the plan all along was to make him stronger somehow the father had something inside him the demon needed so he used the girl as the vessel to control her friends to help her,?meeting the medium was part of the plan and going to the police station, she needed tthe cop to get into the prison, the cop took her to the medium, and hence they worked together to get inside the prison and do what they did, the demon was always in control this whole time, he didn’t come back until it was close to her father’s execution, for whatever reason i believe when they held hands it transferred a more powerful demon, her father didn’t do anything bc of the demon inside him( it wasn’t), it was the demon inside the girl making it appear that way to the ppl she came with. Ppl didn’t die b she was upset, they died bc they knew about the demon and were trying to help get rid of it, that’s why the black girl died, then the friends once they believed and were going to help, the medium didn’t get killed bc the demon needed her, now she needs them to believe the demon died inside the father. The demon wrote saying take her to the father not the girl, bc when she woke up the demon could’ve stopped it once ch he realized where they were going, but didn’t bc he was always in control.
