@@XXTH3ST4RXX You can have your own view, but I think some scenes definitely read like Suzanna is just acting out. Particularly the scenes with her parents in the doctors office when she's pointedly asking if her illness is genetic. Or some of her scenes/ lines between her and Valerie. Dr. Wick suggesting that Suzanna's illness is a choice. Obviously that isn't the message I get from this movie, one of my favorites. But if it is the message other people get, I wouldn't be surprised. And THAT'S what bothers me about it. It feels like the editor had his own vision and ran with it, while the marketing team for this film thought it should be something different and ran with that.

I’m so mad they cut the marketplace part out because that was my favorite part in the book where Susanna goes to get meat and passes out in the meat isle. It’s such a borderline thing to do to try and kill yourself and then regret it and try to get help and it was such a grand gesture of a cry for help that I just loved in the book and I like how she went back to the same place when she ran away. I know the author never ran away but it was a good connection in the movie that would have been nice.

They really cut out Susanna’s story and turned it into a Lisa vehicle.... I’ve read the book as well but I didn’t initially when I saw it as I was in 8th grade and everything surrounding Susanna’s suicide attempt and wrist bruises were so confusing. I remember there’s a throwaway line from like a nurse that says like “we’ve got a wrist banger” or something like that and i don’t think that’s even been a common form a self harm as someone who struggled with that in the past but I could be wrong. i love the art gallery scene. but Polly explaining why everyone is there seems predictable but also unnecessary because the film is not only through Susanah's personal journey but like anywhere where you're the "new kid", it takes time to get to know people. esp in psych facilities where things are rarely explained. none goes out of their way to introduce themselves, but even more so, why they're there because they're trying to figure you out too.

Winona was one of the best actors of this generation. She had a tremendous number of opportunities. It's a shame her entire career was wiped out by her petty shoplifting crime... Now we never hear anything about her. All that work just to get blacklisted for stealing $5000 worth in clothing at Saks. How much is a reputation worth? It's hard to fathom what she stole from herself that day. In a world that's covered in cameras... fluffykitty purry it's heavily linked with trauma but it can be genetic , it's not always linked with trauma though. Sometimes it's related to a cluster of illnesses , and it's even been In relation to Aspergers and neurological conditions. Either way , no one willingly wants BPD. And it's against our freewill for it to be in our genetics.

Correct you are. Sadly though, it is depicted as vicious, the person is portrayed as a monster. This is one of the most misunderstood mental illnesses; no person, not even therapists (with the exception of Marsha Linehan!) can truly understand this illness unless they are engulfed by it themselves.

I think this is one of those movies every time you watch it you see different perspectives,, little nuances you didn't see before. I think at one point there is a statement in which Susanna's character says maybe she was crazy or maybe it was because it was the 60's. I think when you really look at all the characters in this movie you come to terms with everyone is crazy. It just depends on what side of the door your on. Daisies father ? Susanna's boyfriend ( and mother) even that professor she slept with. I never understood why the wife blamed her, yet the daughter sort of got it.
@franemartinic2521
@franemartinic2521 2 жыл бұрын
Or nobody is crazy. You could make that case for every single one of them. Janet is anorexic, today it is eating disorder not being crazy. Cynthia is a lesbian. Polly is schizophrenic but could young girl react any different when she realise what happened with her looks? Daisy is victim of rape that is going on and on. Even Lisa, is she sociapath? Or rebellious girl who is someone only in that hospital and nobody outside? When she found Daisy, you can say she is sociapath. But also she knew Daisy died long time ago, and being dead is better than be raped by her father every week. When Suzannah said that she is pure evil, Lisa break down, but at the end she say that she doesn't have cold heart. Wife blamed Suzannah because it was typical for that time, it was always women fault. Daughter tought the same, you can see in her eyes, but she felt ashamed to say anything in public.

I wish they kept in the scene with John and where she takes the aspirin. Was confused as to how they developed a romance. Also wish they kept the scene with her mother and where she overdosed with the aspirin. Explains why she was triggered by the little girl playing in the beginning and explains more as to why she killed herself. Her “time jumping” (sry idk what to call it) felt inconsistent throughout the movie to be honest. Still don’t understand why they deleted the blood scene. Must’ve spent a lot of money making that scene (w/ the effects n shit)

очень зря сделали, что вырезали, но тут вина в компании, которая, судя по всему, давила на урезание. Ни один компетентный режиссер не станет вырезать настолько важные для понимания картины сцены, тем более режиссер, которому нравится то, что он снимает.
