I grew up with Boy Meets World as well and I did not think they were going to recapture that same magic that BMW had.....I was particularly worried about Maya because they said she was to be this show's Shawn and Shawn is my favorite character. Ironically, she turned out to be my favorite character and while its not AS good as the original. that same essence is still there. Cory still infused the kids with those life lessons just like Feeny did.

Thing is, it wasn't. It was made for contemporary Disney Channel watchers *and* the original _Boy Meets World_ fans, and I think they often struggled to find a balance between centering the show on the younger cast and doing fanservice for older fans. But I like it better than _Fuller House_, which is *definitely* trying to cater to older fans and struggles to care about the younger cast.
