Here comes obligatory lore dump so scav can use Space Marines are humans who went through an extensive bio-augmentation process at a very young age. This process would take years to complete and the aspirants would have to endure untold amount of pain and training before they become a space marine. Once done they would have a body and mind that would make them no less than demigods compared to normal humans. But compared to the galaxy at large, they are just barely enough to face the worst. Most human in the galaxy would never see a space marine in battle, and they would best pray it remains that way. Because for them to be compelled to interfere it would mean you are facing the worst horrors that the galaxy has to offer, and you are not expected to survive, assuming the enemies seek to kill you. Primarchs are beings made using knowledge known only to the Emperor, who was said to have bargained with the gods themselves for the means to make these super-humans, and from their genes, the Emperor would create gene 20 template to create 20 space marine legions to conquer the galaxy. Their bodies are beyond human understanding, even more so for the power they posess, because the spirit of each primarchs are in fact spirits of lesser gods of the spiritual realm of the warp. For that, their fate would affect the fate of the galaxy itself and can change even prophecies.
