I had the privilege of studying voice under Marguerite at the University of Maine at Augusta in the late 80's.....what an amazing set of pipes she has! Over 20 years later I still enjoy listening to her!

Wow! Does it get any better than this? Not a question but a statement. These ladies (and Todd Buffa) are phenomenal. I've long admired Rare Silk for their inimitable vocals and arrangements. Others may have preceded them, still others followed them, but none has rivaled them. They were, are, and will ever be in a class by themselves. One of their classic songs on the New Weave album perfectly sums up the pleasure of watching them in concert or listening to a Rare Silk recording--"Joy!"

We like to chat about the dresses we will wear tonight We chew the fat about our tresses and the neighbors fight Inconsequential things that men don't really care to know Become essential things that women find so apropos But that's a dame, we're all the same, it's just a game, we call it Girl Talk, Girl Talk We all meow about the ups and downs of all our friends The who, the how, the why We dish the dirt, it never ends The weaker sex, the speaker sex You, mortal males, behold But though we joke, we wouldn't trade you for a ton of gold It's all been planned, so take my hand Please understand, the sweetest Girl Talk, Girl Talk I try to smile and talk about the man she's dating with And then again I talk about the man she's mating with I call her mother once a week to tell her where she's at She doesn't know how far to go she's always standing pat But that's alright, we never fight Cause every night, we know it's Girl Talk, Girl Talk Her hair's a mess you know it's something I could scream about About her dress, I'm sure it's something she could do without I wish she'd lose those things they sold her for a pair of shoes About her makeup, it's enough to make me sing the blues But that's alright, we never fight Cause every night, we know it's Girl Talk, Girl Talk Girl Talk, Girl Talk We know a lot of men who gots, and just as much as us Like when they speak of sex, exaggerate, and make a fuss How good they are when they are playing on the tennis courts The thousand games they know, it's just another indoor sport But that's okay, cause every day In every way, we know it's Girl Talk, Girl Talk Girl Talk, Girl Talk Girl Talk You're welcome ;)

Did they add a couple verses to the lyrics? Or are they just the conventionally omitted portions to keep the length of time to 3 minutes tops? I'd never heard those "I talk to her mom about..." part et al. But they're funny AF 😂
@jean-lucbersou758 Жыл бұрын
I THINK they added lyrics to spice the short original and it allows each girl to shine on her own with a funny inter-action and more to bring the new key ( F ) for the ending .
