Changyu has been doing videos like this before with this project and he was always a delight to watch. this time it was particularly entertaining as both women didn't recognise him being one of the actors from the clip. the American was very natural, honest and open while the Thai claimed to watch BL every day but still displayed overexcited behaviour, didn't know what the 'Y' stands for and at 6:16 thinks 'Thai won't care if a guy likes another guy or a girl.' given the general attitude, this is a bold claim - or she lives in a fantasy world. 🤭

The place is almost 100% buddhist, and they accept red light districts and "lady boys" so there's not some deep rooting religion or such that must change in their morality to accept gay relationships (i assume you can still find bad stuff over there though, but comparing it to countries that REALLY hate gays).

@@heykay5610 Buddhism seems the least offended religion by the concept of same-sex relationships but that doesn't change the fact Thai society is very conservative and many elders are strongly opposed to any changes in the law. how else could you explain that despite frequent representations in BL shows there is no legal way of getting married as a same-sex couple in Thailand? Japanese lawmakers are very hostile too. Taiwan is still the only Asian country.

Not always even identifying as gay, so orientation is not even that much discusted or present. For projects that have body swapping between saxes in asia they catalog it as gender bender... it's a different category, with different characteristics. Also the things you mentioned are more of an American buble thing, because in Asia they kind of have their own way they identify... it's more free, in America things are all forced in little "boxes". Here in Europe depending on country, things are again different.

Not really. Here's the thing. When a child is born it's gender is based on what chromosomes it gets and something like that basically. And boys are born if the baby has XY chromosomes or and girls are born if XX chromosomes are chosen. So in short people call boys Y chromosome and girls X chromosomes. Basically since it's love between boys they call it at series Y

@@makatoshinkai Of course, not everyone can accept it, but I think it's a very small percentage of people who still can't accept these things in Thai society. In my entire life, 27 years of existence, I have never encountered a gay or lesbian or transgender person who was physically assaulted. Bullied to the point of suicide or murder just because of being lgbtq, at least in the society where I live. which is the northernmost countryside of Thailand I define them as having fun. One thing I notice when these people are there is always fun and joy. For me, I have no questions about them, I just feel that they are people and can choose to live their lives the way they want.

My story was a lot like his, at his age, but now I'm 20 years older and while we still have a ways to go, it's gotten so so so much better. Yeah, Grindr is almost entirely just ppl looking to hookup or fantasize in chat, and never meet. You might have better luck with regular dating apps that let you choose to search for same sex dates, but even better is to just put yourself out there in real life activities and events where you could meet people naturally and have conversations that help you figure out if they might be gay/bi and if you like them, at the same time. @@meisterox6733 It can be, especially if you're in the closet, but I would recommend you just try to smile, be friendly, and actively listen (don't just wait for them to stop talking so you can respond, but like pay attention to what they say and ask follow-up questions about what they said) to people you like/are attracted to, and then once you've spent some time with them and gotten to know them a bit, you should be able to pick up a vibe if they're gay or bi. If not, you could just invite them to go do an activity you think they'd enjoy with you sometime. If they react with a smile, and agree to go with just you (not a group thing), there's a decent chance they're into you. Compliment them when you meet, flirt some more while you're together, and pay attention to see how they react and if they flirt back at all. If you somehow still aren't sure by the end of the meetup if they're into you like that, just bring it up during conversation when you're about to say goodbye. Say something like, "I had a really good time with you today! Would you like to get together again sometime?" I really doubt any completely straight guy would get to this point and be so oblivious to all the sudden interest you have in them and flirting you're doing, and agree to a second 1v1 outing/date with you, as it's clear courtship at this point. All that being said, if you get tired of spending all that time pursuing guys you're not sure are even interested, you could take a shortcut and just be straightforward about it early on, and ask if you can take them out on a date. Their response will tell you everything you need to know up front, and it sounds better than someone they just met asking them what their sexual orientation is, lol. After all, they may be too afraid to answer truthfully if they're unsure about your intentions or reasons for asking that. P.S. The true status of korea with regards with LGBT has been eloquently stated by changyu. It is very much conservative however it was portrayed in media. Even how it was portrayed in media is still conservative. And as also stated by some disclaimers on bl dramas in other countries, it is still largely a fiction or fantasy. The good news yes it is changing slowly but I think that's the correct way to do do it slowly. Slowly integrating this to public sphere or accepting all genders will eventually be the way that will make sure that people will understand and accept the all persons regardless of genders. It may not happened completely in our lifetimes but sure enough in the future it will. Until then the battle will be long and hard and I hope changyu hangs on to it and I believe that he does.
