As a girl myself I cannot see a spark of empowerment here. The story is about "the boys", it is girls who encourage them to be strong and show the world who they are, so they can achieve their dreams and go further in life. But in not a single line they mention girls power, ( girls bring the boys out, really ? Is that what is expected of a typical female ??? ) Overall, it is not empowering for women, because they merely have the job of a male instructor, so nothing feminist or egalitarian here (sorry..😔) Apart from lyrics, the beat is actually fire btw

While SNSD did take most of the music show trophy wins (hard carried by album sales and voting by the fans), the Korean gp did end up vibing more with Wonder Girls' Be My Baby given how it charted better and longer in the music charts. I love how fitting Jessica's run/melisma/whatever it's called near the end of the song just before Taeyeon's. It really conveys the message of her verse of how the future you were only imagining is finally unfurling and slowly being realized. There's something visceral about it that always makes me emotional after hearing it. Its fastness also gives it sort of a sense of urgency, like if you were only listening to the song passively it might not even register, but if you were, it conveys the additional dimension to the message that if you're not on your toes, you could miss opportunities and shit that lead to self-actualization, i.e., if you just sit around doing nothing, the future will still unfurl, but WITHOUT you. As in like, "the future is unfolding before your 👀," so if you blink, you'll miss it.
