Oooh. Englehart is a beast! Savvy racer too....Making a definitive "pass back" is gutsy and smart. Devastating to the other runner when passed like that.
@solochristo659 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I actually thought she did that on purpose (let the other runner think she had a chance by passing her). What a runner!!!
@brentwalker85967 ай бұрын
I was expecting it but thought she would wait for the straights. She actually initiated the pass while still in the turn. That is confidence in one's abilities. I'm pretty sure she let up a bit at the end.

Sadie is in the conversation of breaking the mile world record with the right workouts
@egranuueirn9 ай бұрын
No disrespect whatsoever but let's calm the expectations and be a bit more realistic. Let's just appreciate what she's doing now at the high school record. 4:34 and 4:07 aren't even in the same universe, and she has been stuck in the 4:30's for a few years now. I expect she's got some performance jumps in her in college and potentially as a pro, but let's worry aout sub 4:30 first.
@robertspies46959 ай бұрын
She has low knee lift. often a mark of lots of miles. Not sure if that is going to affect her speed in professional and international races. Wishing her the best and she has a bright future.

lol comparing her to Faith K?! Not a chance

Maybe in a few years. The WR is 4:07 for women. Give her time.

@@egranuueirnOn your point, though I do agree with you that Sadie is nowhere near world record shape right now, I do think it’s important to point out her 1500 at the The TEN where she ran 4:09, which when converted to the mile is undoubtedly sub 4:30. I think as of right now high school level competition just isn’t enough for her, and since that’s the only level she’s competed the mile in, that’s the reason she hasn’t broken 4:30. I think come the end of the season she could be in sub-4:25 shape if she gets into a fast race (preferably a pro race).

Finally, it looked like Sadie was going to be challenged. I think Sadie's pace was a bit slow. Great effort by second place finisher. Congratulations to Englehardt.

A bit slow!? Only the 6th fastest mile in high school history. With 3 total spots in the top 10. SMDH...

Stacked field. Too bad Godsey and Zawatsky were a DNS. The announcer kept butchering Hedengren's name.

Great race, but I object strongly to all the hoopla surrounding the introductions (as if these girls were not already under enough pressure already, and ESPECAILLY the announcing DURING the race. The announcer's continual commentary was not only asinine but degrading, treating these teenagers as if they were racehorses. Somebody needed to remind the nob that he was at the Arcadia HS track and not next door at Santa Anita. Though I never worked with athletes at this level (well, a couple of my people did do fairly well at Arcadia, I did coach HS track & field for sixteen seasons and cross country for 12, so I am not completely talking out my ear --- and I say this: JUST LET THE KIDS RUN.

I respectfully disagree, I raced at a pretty competitive level in high school and I loved when meets did things like this. The amount of energy it brings to the race definitely helps push you and ease some of the nerves. If you can’t find a way to have fun with the sport you’re never going to race your best.
