One of the best, if not THE BEST save the show ever made. While she didn't go on to debut (and she will eventually), she single-handedly carried any moment she was in the show and made it entertaining like no other. She made each moment count until the very end, and never stopped carrying a smile all the way. What's more, mirroring Ziyin manifesting her save here, Wen Zhe at the very end kept on manifesting SXT's name to debut above her own. You could see her mouth SXT's name since like, place 3 until the fateful 9th place. Wen Zhe is a kind, talented soul that deserves the world from this point on.

To be fair though, I think most of the c group trainees after seeing the edit and portrayal of Yaning on the Eve team on the Connect Mission round and especially the portrayal of Cai Bing on the Salute team as well as how most of the c group trainees were edited on the Combination Mission round, were pretty much very cautious and do not wish to take any important part of songs or volunteer for leaders, etc. I think most of the c group trainees knew that other than Xiaoting, anything that they do would never be shown with a positive light anyway. I felt that what really changed the mood on the c group and deflated their spirit completely was the treatment of Ruiqi on the interim evaluation of the Snake team. After that, on the third elimination on gp999 on episode 11, you can see the body language on most of the c group trainees that they knew even if they survive the elimination on that round, they knew that other than Xiaoting, most of them probably have almost no chance to make the final lineup. c group trainees went from having 4 trainees in the top 9 on the 2nd elimination on episode 8 to only having 2 trainees in the top 9 on the 3rd elimination on episode 11, most importantly the 2 trainees that were always in the top 9 previously: Ruiqi and Cai Bing were completely out of the top 9 rankings, and their image on the show had turned negative. I think that was the reason that not only Wen Zhe but all the other Chinese trainees all were hoping to see Xiaoting in the final lineup as her name were still not called even when rank 1 and rank 2 announcement were over on the final episode on gp999.

A little back story for this: wenzhe participated in youth with you before and she was eliminated in the first round. She was placed 61st in that round and only 60 could get in, which means she was only one place short. The same thing happened in gp999, her cell got 18th and only 17 can get in. So it was honestly heartbreaking for her at that moment.

Rewatching the series, and having had WenZhe as my C-group pick and noting all the evil-editing I really feel for Sein. She was a baby in the competition who didn't understand the weight of her actions. And you can see she really regretted how she effected WenZhe. She apologised. I wish MNET would have edited Sein better instead of making her an antagonist to WenZhe's dreams, because Sein wasn't an antagonist, she was her teammate she just didn't want it as much as WenZhe did and didn't understand the competitiveness of the show.

The rule on gp999 for the elimination on the first round was only cells that were ranked from No. 1 to No. 17 will survive. Any cell that ranked on No. 18 and below were eliminated. And then Mnet chose one trainee out of any of the remaining eliminated trainees from each group (k, c, j) for the planet pass. I think Mnet wanted the planet pass to serve as like the wild card effect for the eliminated trainees so as to kept the selected trainees to continue on gp999 less predictable. In my opinion, the cell was a good way to introduce the various members of each of k, c, and j groups to the viewers as well as to integrate k, c, j group members on gp999. However, the cell rank should never be used for elimination of the trainees especially when Mnet abolished the cell on the Combination Mission round altogether. I think I would have preferred Mnet just allowed the individually ranked (not the cell ranked) 1 to 18 from each of the k, c, j group voted by netizens to advance to the Combination Mission round of gp999 on episode 5. Alternatively, if Mnet felt they need to introduce the planet pass concept on gp999, Mnet could allowed individually ranked 1 to 17 from each of the k, c, j group voted by netizens to advance to the Combination Mission round of gp999 on episode 5. And then for the planet pass, just picked 3 trainees from the eliminated trainees, no need to pick one trainee for each of k, c, j group to continue on to participate on Combination Mission round of gp999.
