@@girlsontheloose1 God bless. I just got back from there. The story of Karbala has a universal message , that lives in the hearts of people who have never even bern there . Although they have immersed themselves in the Tragedy that befell Imam Imam Hussein ع and his venerated followers and family. Travel to Iraq so that you arrive in Karbala on or by Friday night , The 16th of September 2022 . Tourism will not be the word to describe the 16 to 25 Million people that fall at the feet of Imam Hussein ع's shrine /doorstep on that date . The name of this annual enmasse pilgrimage is known as Arba' een . Which literally means The Fortieth. And it marks the 40th day of mourning the anniversary of his Martyrdom which happened on the 10th of Muharram . Another important date in The 12er Shia Muslim calendar. People usually walk from the city of Najaf taking at least 3 days minimum and around 80 kilometres to boot , in sincere devotion to arrive in Karbala for Arbaeen. They walk on their millions and are greeted by locals, all along the way who set up stalls with food , drink and refreshments for the people travelling to name the visitation on foot . There are tents to sleep in , for free , set up along the way that you will be able to stay in overnight . It's an amazing experience. Indeed I hope and pray that this is not your last visit to Karbala and that you will one day be invited again , to what many people still refer to as heaven on earth . God bless.

Hi Susan & Steph.. Thanks for visiting our land Iraq .. I hope you enjoyed your Iraqi adventure .. and I hope my people treated you very well with warm feelings and hospitality when you were there .. I know it is really hard to find Iraqi's speaking English that makes tourism a bit behind. But the good news, Iraq is healing after decades of wars. Please Susan & Steph come back again to Iraq every now and then, Iraq has an ancient heritage, I consider whole Iraq as an open air museum, is really need to be explored. Ur, Babylon, Southern Marshes, and much more .. Much love to you from Iraqi people

Great video Steph & Susan! Although I'm Lebanese Christian, I hope one day I visit Karbala's mosque. I love visiting Shia mosques in Lebanon as they are very welcoming ppl. I have also traveled to Iran and I can say Iran's mosques have one of the best architecture ever and the Imam Hussein mosque in Karbala reminds of this beautiful architecture. Always look at the ceiling when entering such mosques 🤩

The lake has v important mark in history of karbala, the cruel rulers of that time stopped the supply of water from this lake to family of imam hussain a.s...imam hussain and his family including 6 month old child were brutaly martyred thirsty and hungry in hot summers of karbala.. This is the reason that till today ppl of iraq esp karbala/najaf greet ppl openly never leave any visitor thirsty or hungry for the sake of imam hussain a.s and his family. If u ask someone abt the “kheema gah”i dnt know whats it called in iraqi language, but its the place where the imam hussain a.s his family made their tents to stay..its as beautiful!! Its near the shrine!!

I wish you would come on the anniversary of Hussein’s killing, as this occasion became the largest human gathering in the world, the Arba’in of Hussein, where people come from different Iraqi cities, neighboring countries and the rest of the world, where the number of visitors reached 16 million in 2021 and in the year 2018 The number of visitors has reached 19 million, most of them come on foot in different religions to commemorate this painful memory. Along the way, food and drink are distributed to visitors for free and they stay in people's homes. I hope you will come on this occasion to see with your eyes, may God protect you 🌺🌺🇮🇶❤️🇳🇿

There is a more modern shopping experience in Shari’ Al Sanatir (Fatima Street I think is the official name). You must try Toot Fresh for ice cream and/or fruit juices. It is in Shari’ Al Sanatir about 2km from the shrines. There are also some restaurants there, but the best dining in Karbala is at the Baron Hotel in a different area (accessible by shuttle from near the Al Abbas shrine). Enjoy Karbala.

The Prophet (may God’s prayers and peace be upon him and his family) looked at al-Husayn ibn Ali (peace be upon them) while he was coming, so he sat him in his lap and said: The killing of al-Husayn is a heat in the hearts of the believers that never cools down, then he (peace be upon him) said: “The dead man is a lesson.” Every lesson, O son of the Messenger of God? He said: No believer remembers him except that he wept
