Very nice video - thinking of visiting the Hendricks Gin Palace and wanted to see more of the area. Lovely little town! Thanks for sharing.

Lived in Girvan for 4 years now and I absolutely love it. Yes, the high street has some empty shops but so does every other high street. Loads going on if you want to get involved. Beautiful beach, fabulous countryside. Local butchers, greengrocers, gift shops, original clothing shops. Lovely people. Don't knock it.

Girvan has been forgotten by the local authorities.

Born and bred in Girvan in the 60's and 70,s ---happy childhood days and it was great in the summer when the holiday makers came..like the guy said memories of the simple things, my favourites, the rowing boats, the beach pavilion , climbing the byne hill and dow hill for the views and the gardens filmed which were once an orchard full of apple trees

Spent so many happy holidays in Girvan in the 50s and 60s. Hardly recognised it now. Used to be 2 cinemas, theatre, dancing at the bandstand on Stair Park, several hotels, lovely shops - and of course the motor boats!

I sometimes used to go on holiday to Girvan when I was a child in the 1960s. I remember going on the little motor boats around the boating pond and I can remember there was also a futuristic structure on the island in the middle. Maybe my memory deceives me, but Girvan is looking very run down compared to what I can remember.

It's a town with tremendous potential. Great people. Sadly let down by decades of political incompetence.
@creechrfeechr80943 ай бұрын
We talk about "political incompetence" sometimes because I think it helps us abstract our own weaknesses and failings. If the politicians have failed us, who do we blame for that? Who put them there? And if they don't do what they say they will, what can we do about that? Bad politics is simply a reflection of a broad lethargy from the people themselves. If we cared enough, we'd ask the right and honest questions and seek truthful answers.

Stayed in Girvan recently. Best AirBnb ever. Paid the same price for worst AirBnb ever in Oban. Walks near Girvan are spectacular, some of the best. But Girvan itself is sad, needs refurbishment/advertising/Something to draw the tourists in. Lots of potential but the walks/forests/ scenery need to be promoted more because there is nothing to draw people to Girvan itself.
