The one thing that really was an eye opener in this horrific story was not the psychopath husband and what he did and offered. Its the countless men who were interested in this and in the end participated in a crime like its just a nice little idea to drug and r* someone. Ordinary guys! And my theory is that a handful might have told buddies about it. Even these men did not report this to the police. There seems to be a massive issue with hate against women and toxic loyalty amongst men within modern society . This was totally new to me.

Millions of people ( men and women ) normalize this type of behavior through participation in porn … whether they are making it or watching it online …. People who you work with who are upstanding citizens…. I was married to a very intelligent, mild mannered / silver haired man (ex husband, now) who makes millions a year as a VP at the largest oil company in the world - he’s cosmopolitan/ tall / handsome / distinguished/ PhD … and a porn addict. It was an ongoing problem in our marriage. now that he’s retiring, he’s married a literal call girl who sought out executive types - she’s 25 years younger & looks like a porn star 😅… I’m not saying he would have participated in such a thing as what Ms. Pelicot’s husband did …. But gang rape, awful “ sex games “ like what she went through is Common to watch in the porn industry … this type of sex violence is normalized. Although I was shocked and disgusted/ heartbroken at how he left our marriage ( family ) I’m not saying I want him back -- it’s a MAJOR character flaw that cannot be corrected… what I’m saying is there are millions of people ( men and women ) who participate in this type of behavior by supporting the porn industry. If you saw my ex or worked with him - You would never have thought /,guessed he was a porn addict. It’s literally all he did was work - porn - workout - work - travel for work - porn - support call girls ( all over the world !) - work - porn - have dinner with me and the kids - porn. It was a huge part of his life. It becomes normal to them in their minds. He looks ridiculous walking around with much younger, obvious hooker type woman on his arm…. But this is life.

This is France’s system of justice against sexual harassment and assault, lots of Europe is behind modern ideas of consent, rape, age etc. & why she decided to go public because many women don’t get any justice or trial. America isn’t great at all, but we started the laws being change in some states& federally 15-20 yrs ago after some of our high profile criminal incidents. And for truly horrific incidents such as child abuse, torture, assault, US judges can def find ways to give more than 20 years 😢 It’s shifting the cultural mindset that men are responsible not women. Call me a cynic but something about all of this smells. As a Brit i'm well aware of Fred and Rose west and this reminds me of it. The daughter thinks it happened to her. Post the trial the police believe her husband raped an estate agent and murdered another. Most likely he's committed other crimes. The fact she was totally unaware of " EVERYTHING" and the only reason police investigated her husband was because he filmed up womens skirts strikes me as really strange. If I were the police I would seriously think about digging up the house and surrounding area

Excuse me for asking an awkward question, everybody, but why is it that the ONLY person's face to be seen by the public of all those directly involved in the case, perpetrators and victim, is actually that of the victim herself (who bravely gave up her anonymity)? Does France have a policy (idiotic if so!) of protecting convicted criminals from being named and SHAMED?
