Какой великолепный балет и великая Уланова, сколько бы не спорили знатоки балета по поводу техники исполнения, все таки балет это прежде танец а не гимнастические соревнования, умение передать образ героев, их душу, чувства, с чем Уланова справляется с блеском!

Согласна с вами. А какие одухотворенные лица. Лицо отображает все эмоции танца - ШЕДЕВРАЛЬНО!!! Они ничего не говорят, а я понимаю о чем они говорят!!!! Действительно, только сравнивая великих с современными начинаешь понимать разницу. Хотя и сейчас есть прекрасные исполнители. Но почему-то серость больше занимает пространство.

So awe inspiring - what an amazing actress Ulanova was! For once Giselle is a real, living, breathing *girl* and not a ballerina dancing Giselle. It's ballet as a completely interpretative art rather than dance with some acting thrown in on the side. All those subtle, fluctuating nuances of emotion are so natural and never "busy" - love so much the moment where she does an involuntary skip of happiness as she goes to sit down on the bench and the mock serious way she rearranges her skirts!

When I was a boy I loved Galina Ulanova's dancing, her total being on stage was so modest and divine, a few years ago I hesitated to see the "old" films, afraid that I would be disapointed, because the technique developed ! ? !, Now seeing these pictures of movements than,,, how MOVING ! this is stage art,,,this does something to me,, I am moved...

Once upon a time.....ballet was telling a story.Pleople left the theatres heartbreaking because poor Giselle and Albrecht.But that was a long time ago, we still have this videos...that is all, people says "ballet has evolved"(for better??)

I was watching today a very touching, very moving video.. it was beloved student of Ulanova and Fadeyechev who was coached by Fadeyechev during his tenure as Bolshoi's premier dancer after Ulanova's death. His teacher at the time was also another known ballerina Marina Semyonova His name is Nikolai Tsiskaridze. He was badly injured and almost died of sepsis and staph, had 10 surgeries and when he returned home after 9 months of rehabilitation, he lost will to dance. He said he wanted then to see something beautiful after the ordeal he went through so from his huge archive of DVDs he pulled this Giselle and watched his beloved late teacher as Giselle and his coach as Albrecht and started feeling very sentimental realized he wanted to go on, his will to dance was coming back, she touched him again and inspired him again. He said he could never see her dance live since he was too young so she danced for him ballet Narcissus she was coaching him for and changed for him choreography to suit his needs. He said she taught him how to listen to silence the way she did in second act of Giselle and he did. He debuted as Albrecht in 1997 with Nadezhda Pavlova while Ulanova was still alive and received an award for that role, I am sure she was so proud. Now he passes along that knowledge and grace to his students at Vaganova Academy where he is a rector. Watching this jewel of a version of Giselle. Interesting to see how ballet has evolved since then. Ulanova is all innocence and pure lightness in the air. I just cant deal with the canceling of Russian ballet due to the Ukrainian war. It makes me ill. I dont think the Marinsky Ballet will recover. All their tours have been cancelled. I pray their theatre and artists survive this injustice.

People always talk about the age difference between Nureyev and Fonteyn, but Ulanova (who was 46 here) was 23 years older than Fadeyechev (who was in his early 20s here).

“Old” pointe shoes had such a small box, made feet look gorgeous, but I can only imagine the pain she may have experienced while being so weightless and delicate on stage.

I dont know, they all looked so good in those shoes. But if you notice, none of their feet really arch like todays' dancers, There really isnt much pointing of the feet when standing or walking.

The Goddess. Interestinlgy enough the ballet in Russia died as Mrs. Ulanova passed away. All what they have now are clowns and acrobats.
