Im sorry to say the entrechats were not beautiful. He opened his arms horizontally.

A lot of French Albrechts open their arms during the entrechats. It's a technical help but you can also use them beautifully by adding them into the narrative. For example, Laurent Hilaire expressed Albrecht's complete desperation by throwing his arms in the air in the most frantic way in an 80s POB production of Giselle. The character is forced to dance and reaching deadly exhaustion. It makes more sense to start to use help at some point and show some fatigue than trying to maintain complete composure. That being said, I prefer when Albrecht tires himself out by doing lots of entrechats without the arms, then starts to use the arms and by the end is almost gasping for air. Progressive exhaustion.
