Thanks for all the tips, this is really helpful. Also I find it funny how it's 20 minutes of actual rollercoaster building and 20 minutes of OCD tickling with decorations.

This is really helpful. I'd love to see this for more coaster types. Realistic Gigas/Hyper-Twisters would be great to see as well. Edit: I see that you've already done a few others. I'll make sure to check them out.

I've done one on River rapids and Air powered vertical coasters! Wide go Karts probably also fall into this category.

You can also use the classic wooden track and steel (gray) supports, especially if you're making a late-model CCI or Gravity Group. Speaking of which, CCIs should feature double-ups and -downs, while a GCI should make extensive use of the banked swoop turns and the articulated trains.

My current park in progress features three woodies (plus an Arrow hybrid): a classic white woodie in the style of PTC/John Allen, a big stompy CCI with enough airtime that the game whines about too many drops, and a massive, slinky GCI with a long pre-lift section and lots of high-speed curves.

My favorite coaster of all time, The Villain, was a CCI design. I miss her so much /:

I think you could justify having as many trains in total as there are block sections, one in storage and (number of block sections)-1 on the track. That way, if there is a mechanical failure in one of the trains, that one can relatively quickly be swapped with the spare, and it can then be fixed while the coaster continues to operate at full capacity.

My thought on helixes is that they absolutely have their place if you do them properly. I’ve had great success with high-speed combo helixes (one running clockwise and one running counter) that are connected using cleverly-used wide turn pieces.

Just want to point something out about the Son of Beast loop. Most people have said that the loop was easily the best part of the ride, and it was very smooth. The reason the ride was taken down was because of a shoddy construction job and use of poor wood, plus not enough support for the overall structure leading to huge issues in other parts of the track. The loop in that coaster was completely viable and would probably still be there if a proper job had been done in the construction with the rest of the rides support structure. When you talk about the loops at the end you kind of made it sound like the loop was the reason Son of Beast was taken down when that just isn't true. Since Son of Beast came down, multiple wooden coasters have been made with inversions.
@Deurklink
@Deurklink 2 жыл бұрын
Actually the loop was taken out because the new lighter trains the ride received at some point wouldn't be able to make it through the loop.
@ziggle5000
@ziggle5000 2 жыл бұрын
@@Deurklink The heavier trains were only used because they wanted the loop to be in the mid-section of the ride and they wanted it to be too big. Lighter trains would have made the loop fine if they didn't design the coaster like chimps. Anyways I like your park designs either way, you make some cool stuff.

I rode one of the 6 seater Woodies which was Blue Streak at Conneaut Lake Park which is currently a top headline for the NWPA area due to the Park Owners potentially demolishing the coaster instead of retracking it

good basic coaster build but you didn't mention wooden coasters can be very expensive since they tend to be pretty stretched out. maybe ways to still be realistic but offer some budget options. I'd think as you did here would run about 40k?

That coaster would be fairly boring to me IRL. Top speed below 80 km/h, lots of it around 40-50 km/h, track length of 950 m. I like the design and look, it would be better if it were scaled up a bit though, maybe to a top speed of 100 km/h. My favorite wooden roller coaster in real life is The Voyage, it goes 109 km/h and has a 1,964 m track length. July 17, 2019 12:05 am

5:22 Could not disagree more. To me your version looks much more choppy, even worse once a coaster is running on. Nothing natural looking about it. But to each his/her own. Really enjoyed the video though!

Haha trust me, coasters where you smoothen the hills and valleys out like this after a big drop will get appreciated a lot more. Just check out some woodies on nedesigns.com. Smoothened out hills and valleys also combine much better with any curves you place after them.

It's essentially what Chris Sawyer did with the a steep-to-flat pieces on Twister and Giga coasters.
@StefanVeenstra
@StefanVeenstra 5 жыл бұрын
But it IS more realistic and natural. Not to mention it benefits your stats as G's are more smoothly distributed. Purely on aesthetics, it would depend on sequence for me personally. A long top after a short valley is less pleasing to me than a short top after a long valley. Usually I add a new element at each hill, to make the ride less repetitive and more unique.

I would say that I have been on many woodies that have half a helix as well. Now a days though woodies are being outmoded and replaced for RMC hybrids.

@@Deurklink Oh, I am well aware of what all the cool kids from nedesigns think and I honestly don't care. I have NEVER in my life of playing this game found anywhere as toxic as New Element. Maybe the place has changed over the years and all the attitude is gone but I doubt it. As mentioned and totally ignored, to each his own as to if you think it looks better or not. Your fans obviously agree with you, I however do not.
