A beautiful rendering by Hariharan
Poet Sri Jayadeva was born in 11th century in Bindu Bilva village near Puri Jagannath Temple in Orissa. His wife Padmavati, was an accomplished temple dancer. He was very much influenced by the culture and devotion of Vaishnava Brahmanas. His magnum opus "Gita Govinda' is one of the most popular compositions in Sanskrit language, describing the divine love of Radha and Krishna.
Radharani is the spiritual energy of Krishna..and this sixth poem describes the first meeting of Radha and Krishna.
The tingling of the girdle chains of Radha symbolises the experience of spiritual bliss in a mystical manner declaring that Krishna is the mind born joy and the cause of the tingling
Affirming that Kesi (Krishna) is generous with his love it reminds all that seeking divine deliverance is the route to everlasting joy.
Through our devotion to Krishna and Radha we can access that inner joy unparalled to any material happiness that is transcient.
