Thanks for this , very usefully as I am doing the wife 150bhp one next week , the spanner size , and oil filter position have already saved the day ! Cheers

Great video, all the info condensed down into what should be enough if you are competent enough to attempt this, thanks!

Great video. I did Wince when you got under the car with only the car holding it up though. I can't do that. Too many thoughts of my head exploding like a squashed water melon. I use a wooden chock to make up the jack myself.

haven't serviced one of these yet. will be soon. where the oil filter is I had this with a vauxhall astra 20 litre diesel. I used a low profile impact socket with hole either side and used a small screwdriver to undo it. gutted I could torque it up to spec tho.

How do you reset the service light (spanner) and the ‘service coupon expired’ message after the oil change?

Superb video. Very helpful thank you! Did you find a loss of low down torque with the K&N?

When you changed the oil filter did you make a mess around the filter? The filter on these is mounted sideways and when I did mine I made a complete mess of the drive haha!

Did you manage to change the oil filter with a 32mm socket or do I need a spanner because of the tight space?
@colmarrobmac80656 жыл бұрын
There's no room for a socket- not even a 'low profile' one. You need a spanner, and a full size 32mm spanner can be too long. You might want to use an an adjustable spanner, or a compact plumbers spanner. Also, the filter dumps oil all over the place when you remove the top. Have some rags to hand.

@@colmarrobmac8065 about to do mine but the recommendation I got is to use a cereal box and make a "gutter" using the shiny side to catch the oil and let it flow to your catch tray www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/Giulietta_2.0_JTDM_oil_and_oil_filter_change.shtml

@@cruachan1191 Did this on Saturday. I attached a bit of scrap garden hose to a small funnel and held it under the filter housing as I loosened it. Managed to drain most of the oil into the oil pan. A bit fiddly but much less mess. If you haven't done this yet, the sump plug shouldn't be over-tightened as it risks damaging the threads on the sump. It only needs torqued to about 25 Nm . No more!

What an utterly stupid place to put the oil filter... At least it beats the location of the Busso V6's oil filter in a 156 as it's not near any other pipes. And the housing type filter always beat the can style ones for me.
