It's really important to mention that diodes have a negative temperature coefficient. If you put two nominally identical diodes in parallel (and that includes LEDs, rectifiers, Schottky, etc.) one of them will have a slightly different forward voltage for the same current. That one must then draw more of the current than the other. If the current is significant, the one drawing more current will heat up more, raising its temperature. That rise in temperature will tend to reduce its forward voltage drop, meaning it must draw even more current, causing more heating and so on until one diode is taking effectively all of the current, and the other one might as well not be there. Parallel diodes is a failure waiting to happen.
