Top class playing and groove feel! The precision and the snare and kick drum sound particularly good! Everything is great! Did you record and mix it?

Thanks Jack, appreciate the comments! Yep, an entirely DIY recording project. I've been very happy with the Sakae kit (and Guru snare) in the studio, and the '73 P Bass is always a fail-safe!

+Jules Jackson The whole think is really great, the composition playing and production! Kit sounds great i have to say, would you mind telling me what the cymbal is with the sizzles? A precision is always a fail safe move, an old trusty! Sounds like you have the tone rolled all the way back? Was it recorded straight in? Snare sounds fab, nice phat dead low thud but still snare-y, there's a nice weight to it. Are the room mice behind the kit SE R1 Ribbon? Sorry for the mass of questions!

No worries Jack! The cymbal with the rivets is a 20" Zildjain K Custom "Left Side Ride." Tone all the way down on the bass, but recorded through my Mesa Boogie Walkabout 1x12 combo (and an SE R1 ribbon mic). The room mice (SE R1's) didn't actually end up in the mix! I've been experimenting with different mics and placements. The sound they were adding may have worked well with other songs, but for this one I ended up going for a cleaner 'closer' sound.

+Jules Jackson I need to look into getting one, lovely stick definition but that sizzle creates another lovely layer around it. Thats cool, what do you think of the mesa? The SE R1's are particularly dark! What heads and muffling are on the snare?

From his website: "Music was on the agenda from a young age, starting with piano and drums, transitioning to bass guitar in 1997. Upright bass soon followed whilst studying on the jazz course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, from where he graduated in 2002, and has been a Professor of Jazz since 2016."
