Not getting a chance to watch this until Sunday morning. My mom used to make the cinnamon rolls in a can for us 4 kids on Sunday morning because they were a quick breakfast before church. Thank you for the memories. BTW, I will call her this morning and tell her about this recipe. God Bless, stay safe.

Amy, a quick question- why do you use add baking powder instead of just a more sourdough starter?. I’m trying to stay away from baking powder wherever possible. Thanks and yours looks fabulous👍

This recipe seems similar to her regular cinnamon rolls. In her recipe for her regular cinnamon rolls it says you can use active sourdough starter and instead of putting them straight in the oven you let them rise for an hour. I've done that recipe that way, and it's come out perfect. Updated: I've done this recipe with active starter that way, and it works really well. If you don't want to add leavening agents, active will work fine. You just need to let rise for 1 hour after you cut the cinnamon rolls and put them in the pan.

@@BrittanySpicknallhow/ when do you add in the active sourdough? Like you normally would at the beginning or at the end like how she does with the baking powder

They are under her link and you can also print off the recipe there.

I’ve been wondering since I’m thinking about starting sourdough but a little hesitant. Are sourdough desserts sour?
@BrittanySpicknall4 жыл бұрын
Not in my opinion, it also depends on how long you ferment it for. But for the most part, you cannot taste the sourness.

I’m 2 years late but I’m here to tell you to definitely go for it if you never got around to dabbling with sourdough since you posted your comment. So far I’ve made 2 recipes from this channel, the crepes and the chocolate chip cookies (I add walnuts when making the cookies) and oh my goodness my family loves them. My mom and husband eat the crepes plain with nothing added. That’s how good they are. Btw, sourdough & chocolate complement each other so well. I don’t know how or why it works but it does! Even just a regular slice of sourdough bread with hazelnut spread is so good 🤌🏼 To answer your question though, no one has ever made a comment on whether the sweets tasted sour or not. ☺️

Hi there! I did get into sourdough a now I make bread, pizza, rolls, desserts, and more with it! The desserts don't taste sour but I find that pancakes and waffles which are made just with starter, rather than adding any flour, do taste stronger. Thanks for the encouragement!
