It's not that One Piece gets good after episode 37, for me OP was good from the beginning (it gave me nostalgia for 90s anime). The thing about episode 37 it's that, if you're not really into it after that moment, there's no point in continuing watching. In any case, Derrick, it's fine if you don't like OP, don't worry about toxic fans.

I've been on the One Piece journey myself for about 6 months now. I'm sure that guys talking about Nami asking Luffy for help with Arlong, but One Piece sets a fire almost immediately. People claiming Luffy Gear 5 was just as iconic as Goku going SSJ for the first time is actually what got me to watch it. That fight looked beautiful and I honestly can't wait to make the judgement for myself. All that said, one piece doesn't rush itself. Rather it takes it's time building one of the most comprehensive fictional universes I've ever absorbed. It's not without it's flaws, but I honestly can't say that those are well overshadowed by all the shows strengths imo. One piece is very good. It may not be "ThE GREATEST THING EVER" but it's definitely better than most anime. Better than most of dragon ball, that's for sure. And I'm a Dragonball fan. But after Frieza, the narrative of that show was second thought and we all fucking know it.
