If Lennon was here today, he would likely lead a peace movement twice the size of his in Vietnam in the 70's and late 60's. He would be singing his heart out. The world needs a man like Lennon again. It wouldn't be about the music, or the love, or whatever else; it would be for peace. With the world so set on tearing itself apart, I think a man like him trying to keep it all together would sound pretty nice right about now.

Undoubtedly Lennon was much more than a musician, he was a man of incalculable courage, who worked for a better society. Demand for peace and the dissemination of his claim, he challenged those who enrich themselves at the expense of the world's pain. Of course I evaluate the risks of going against genocidaires and murderers and that puts him above any artist in history. He made his art in people's consciousness of peace and freedom and gave his life in return.

Definitely one of John's moments of 'genius'. An incredibly simple lyric and tune that evoke so much emotion. He never really wrote complex lyrics in the vein of Dylan, Mitchell, Cohen, etc. but he could capture a deep feeling in a simple line, which in some ways is even more impressive. He could connect with the zeitgeist and public sentiment better than any other pop musician.

The MOST powerful voice in the history of recorded music, did this - when he was only 29 in 1969. This is 2019. We did nothing yet. Let's try #GivePeaceAChance

A good portion of the world's population believes a man came 2000 years ago with basically the same message, and that one hasn't taken yet either. Too bad that humans are mostly trash. Perhaps a couple million more years of evolutionary development will make us capable.

I can barely make it halfway through this song before I start sobbing. My father was in Vietnam at this time, and my mother was marching in Washington. A TIME When protesting was really about saving lives! And problems were really problems. Man.....

Yup, sadly people don’t know that he hit Cynthia once and apologized a lot and said that he’ll never do it again and he was unprepared to be a father to Julian and woman is the n of the world was an awareness song for black women who were treated bad back then and Lennon even said that he supported MLK and black people and most of his favorite artists were black and the Jesus quote was out of context and the n word had alot of context and he said that the n word doesn’t have the same meaning as it used too and he lost many people during his life like his mom

Unfortunately, this is still very relevant today! When will people finally understand...? We only have one life, which is far too short to waste on senseless wars, and we only have one planet, which suffers at the hands of people because something is destroyed with every war. Finally give peace a chance!
