Allow me to add a joke. An atheist goes to hell. On his descent he thinks "Damn, looks like the religious were right after all...", but he didn't have much time to ponder because just as he hits rock bottom, a tall man arrives in a puff of smoke. "Hello, welcome to hell, me, I'm the devil, this is hell, your room isn't done yet but you can have your welcome drink at the bar where you get directions to the various activities, over there is the tennis court, back there the swimming pool, the spa is round that corner and if you look over there...", the man goes on and on about various anemities and activities and our atheist starts to ponder... hell doesn't seem that bad a place. "But", he interjects as he spots something, "what's behind that grey wall over there?" "Oh that", the devil said, "doesn't concern you". The atheist sprints over to the wall and looks behind it. And goes pale as he sees various people crying and lamenting as they are pushed into pits of molten sulphur, with sub-devils pushing those trying to get out back into the torture pits with pitchforks, throwing glowing coals at the sufferers. "Ah, I see! You show me all that and what I could have had, and THAT is waiting for me, right?" "Oh no", the devil says, "far from it". "Then what is that?" The devil shrugs. "Beats me. I don't really get it myself, but that's the corner for the Christians. They like it that way".

When I started playing D&D in the early 80s, it was in the middle of the "Satanic Panic". My mother decided to play the game with us, just to see what all of the fuss was about. She didn't much like it herself, but she understood why I did. From that point on, she staunchly defended me and my friends from religious family members, friends, coworkers, and even the parents of the friends who played with me. I believe she changed some of their minds and let us continue to play a game that we loved. She often said: "I'd rather have them using their imaginations and playing a harmless game here, than hanging out at the mall." Thanks, mom. :)

@Gh0st Flow Yeah, pretty sure more Christians fall into that category than Satanists, or anybody else for that matter. This also depends on how the individual defines "destroy." You can verbally, emotionally, mentally, financially and physically destroy someone. Which is it? And when does self-defense come into it? Are you saying they're all going around killing people because they were cut in line at the store or some nonsense? Also, if they are Satanists, I'm rather sure the Christian concept of sin doesn't bother them, just as it doesn't bother Atheists or other "non-believers." That, however, doesn't mean they have no code of ethics, morals or what have you. They just don't require a priest in a church to tell them what those are.

I am very skeptical about your claims that it has helped you become more grounded and loving. You see I have also been a religious person and then dropped out for the reasons you mentioned and then realized I was living in a vaccum trying to think about everything by myself for the first time. How can you get closer to the truths about and beyond creation so that you find abundance and peace within and act precisely? Most atheists in fact after the excitement settles down realize they have no real,intimate purpose. You can check out the SHAPESHIFTER video from the "Amazing Atheist" channel to see what I mean. Most of the better atheists that I know are not really good role models for life, they judge a person based on superficial matters and so cannot really be helpful and their wisdom is apst nonexistent

@@jollydove6314 Sounds like you need to meet more atheists, especially so if you look to find “profound wisdom” from the ramblings of “visions of past sages” (often based on dreams or hallucinogenic concoctions from local flora) who just happened to get a few things right among the countless things they got wrong. In my experience, very few “do their religion right,” in that regard, because every individual puts their own spin on their holy books to accept the things they agree with, while disregarding the more barbaric and downright wicked stories of supposedly “all good, all loving deities.” I personally don’t care what people believe until they start using those beliefs to justify racism, bigotry, and violence against those they don’t understand. Although, I’ve also never met a single religious person who reached their supernatural beliefs without exercising faith, and that is not a reliable path to truth in any sense.

"Eternal punishment" is really an oxymoron. Let's say I steal a cookie from the cookie jar. I'm punished by being made to sit on the naughty step and receive a slap on the wrist for my transgression. The whole point of such punishment is that I suffer undesirable consequences for having done the wrong thing and, therefore, will not wish to do the wrong thing again in any hurry, lest reap these undesirable consequences once more. And, yes, we can note that this is essentially Pavlovian training. The slap on the wrist causes pain - but not serious pain, it temporarily smarts a bit - but this makes one mentally associate the transgression with the undesirable consequences of pain. Much like Pavlov's bell would make dogs salivate, as they associated it with being fed, after Pavlov trained them to make this association by ringing the bell before "feeding time". So that the next time you feel like transgressing, this association with the pain you will receive for being caught will make you recoil from committing it. But here's the fundamental problem with the mainstream interpretation of Hell. It's eternal. So there is no "next time". There is no second chance, no rehabilitation. Regret and remorse don't matter as this gig is eternal and you don't ever get out of this never-ending punishment. Eternal punishment is not punishment. It's just sadism, pure and simple. As the punishment achieves no end goal - how can it, as it's to go on forever? It's eternal Pavlovian training - so you will undoubtedly be well trained, but for what, as you never ever leave this training to ever go on to what you're being trained for? So, God roasts all the evil doers forever. But what exactly does that achieve? Indeed, as it's infinite then, by definition, it cannot achieve anything, as it will never ever reach an end state. In our fear of potentially suffering this punishment, we're not asking the really obvious question here. Why bother? What does it achieve? These folks are not going to transgress anymore, as they've been condemned to eternal isolation in their own special realm. Hell is life imprisonment. Well, "death imprisonment", I guess is more accurate, but you know what I mean. They've been banged up in the inescapable cage of Hell for the rest of all time. That'll do it. That'll stop the wrong doers from inflicting their transgressions on anyone else, who're happily sunning it up in the paradisaical plains of Heaven. Job done. So what's the point of all the agonising pain and suffering? It's nothing more than just sadism at this point, surely? Punishments must be finite or, simply, it ain't punishment anymore. It just becomes eternal sadism - no purpose, no end goal, no second chance nor rehabilitation. It's just a never-ending "power trip" for these inexplicably needy beings - whose insecurities and sadism know no bounds, as not even infinite worship - for God - nor inflicting infinite pain - for Satan - is ever good enough to satisfy them, as they demand this for all of the rest of eternity. And still it goes on. Hell makes no sense. And, by extension, how the Hades can Heaven be any better, when you must spend your "eternal bliss" in full and complete knowledge that the other realm exists and, down there, Uncle Billy is being needlessly roasted for all time? Here's the fundamental logical problem - the very entry requirements we're told you need to get into Heaven, as being "a good person", means that there's no way you could suffer knowing that there's billions and billions of souls suffering below you. You're a good person, so there's no way you can just ignore and "tune out" the eternal suffering of infinite souls below you and not care. If you could easily do that, then you ain't so great of a "good person" and wouldn't be let in through the pearly gates by St.Peter for, bluntly, being such a miserable sociopathic cunt. You're clearly not a team player, if this is of no issue to you, so entry to "the giant family" would, indeed, seem like a major mistake for Heaven's social cohesion. Here. I have 72 willing virgins for you. Now, as you spend the rest of eternity seeking sexual gratification - which is totally "mixed messages" on the Pavlovian front as well, as I was instructing you how this was all so terribly wrong when you were alive, but now you get rewarded with it! - just keep that mental image of Uncle Billy burning in eternal torment in your thoughts. Ah, you see. Turns out Heaven is also eternal punishment too. Just of a far more insidious kind. If Hell is the physical torture, then Heaven is mental torture. "Praise the Lord! (Uncle Billy's on fire) Praise the Lord! (Uncle Billy's screaming in agonising pain that'll never end) Praise the Lord! (Billions are suffering infinite pain)" And those nagging thoughts never go away because, of course, Heaven and Hell are eternal. This never stops, this never ends, this never - by definition - achieves anything. Eternal sadism. Some insidious never-ending Chinese Water Torture, tapping away at your soul - be that in Hell or in Heaven, it kind of doesn't matter, as both are working on eroding your soul into nothing, through a death of a thousand cuts. Well, death of an infinity of cuts, in Promethean style, as Hell's fire never actually consumes and Heaven also infinitely restores the boulder to the bottom of the hill again (okay, okay, I'm mixing my mythological metaphors, but you know what I mean). God and Satan are apparently on the same side - and always have been - and, frankly, are just totally and utterly psychopathically insane.

Also that only is true for the versions of Christianity where Satan has free will and is the evil counterpart to God's supposed good. In a number of different versions Satan is just another prisoner. Just another being created by God who is punished for making the choices that God created him with the ability to make. Punished for exercising free will.

I think most people don't get that devil worshipping (irrespective of religion) is another form of theistic religion (although some groups may claim to be non-theistic) in itself and should be treated the same way as all religions are treated (by atheists). Although the definition of theist is someone who believes in god, I call devil worshippers theists because they believe the devil to be their god. Some may also make the mistake that if one is an atheist, then one must conform to the devil's ways, whatever those ways may be construed as by theists, which is just stupid. There were fundamental Christians who killed their adopted child not even half a mile from my childhood home a few years back. The Bible is still being used to justify child abuse to this day. Kacper Garbiec Hey man, when I was 17, my hair started going grey, so don’t feel so bad. I’m 31 now, and pretty damn salt ‘n’ pepper, as I have been for the last 2-3 years. From 17 to 27, my grey hair crept very slowly, but in those last couple years of my 20s it was an avalanche of greying. My point is, even though the genes controlling your hair were set for premature “aging” in adolescence, as were mine, you may have a while yet before serious changes take place. Granted, greying hair and balding hair are two very different things, and we’re two completely different people, but as someone who was bummed out bc my hair was doing things that “aren’t supposed to happen” when you’re a teenager, I know how you feel (kinda), and figured maybe knowing that it took over a decade for it to really start taking over might encourage you. Really, though, I know it seems like a big deal, and it’s fine to be bummed about it, but there’s no reason to freak out about what one can’t change. If it takes over swiftly, and it bothers you severely, there are cosmetic options you’ll be able to afford eventually. Try rocking a shaved head, though. Like now, so you can see what it’d look like down the road, and you can acclimate yourself to it. Maybe you’ll like it. Hell, maybe the girls will like it. Start hitting the gym, and you can be their teen Mr. Clean, except dirty! lol 😈😂 I digress. Hopefully my comment makes you feel a little better. Everything is more complicated, or at least seems to be, when you’re a teenager, so it sucks to have that kinda thing thrown at you so young, but be happy for what it isn’t. It could always be worse, and you can’t let something so minor define you. ✌🏼😊

Beautiful lecture Aron, I never believed in any religion even when I was a kid in the 70's. I was always treated as strange because of it. But I still always had that fear in the back of my mind of the devil and hell and damnation. I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but when you hear it day after day from everyone and everywhere it still gets ingrained in your head of the possibility. I rebelled at the age of around 11 from religion when my family was going to the Mormon church and said I was never going back one day, and I was lucky my parents didn't make me go back. I only wish I would have escaped the fear of hell before I was in my late 40's. This lecture would have helped me see the light much more quickly. Thank you for sharing your voice with us and I hope this video helps many, many more people see the light so that they don't live with that fear as long as I did.

This truly my favorite Aron Ra videos! This is for several reasons. For one, his prentation is powerful and should be sobering for Christians. Second, the subjects and points he makes are critically important to anyone who wants to study this religion honestly and objectively. For example, Many if not most Christians, believe Satan is an immortal enemy of god. That is not the case, as Aron so poigantly made clear. Satan (the accuser) was god's "right-hand-man." Satan did god's dirty work. One of the most effective things Aron does in this video, was to use the story of Job to demonstrate the character of both Satan and god! Anyone who has a sincere interest in actually learning about the emotional (Psychological) makeup of both god and Satan characters, should read Job several times, and study it carefully. Satan killed 10 sons and daughters of Job's (and only did so with god's blessing), while god slaughtered millions! What Christians fail to remember, or know, is that Satan cannot act outside of god's will...period! That means if Satan does something horrific, it had to have been sanctioned by god! Christians are so busy trying to portray the bad guy (Satan), they forgrt that Satan can only act on god's will. What this means is that all evil acts ultimately must come from their god! In recognizing the truth about satan, it sheds a completely different light on the biblical god. Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, "and create evil:" I the LORD do all these things.

+Cootabux To be fair, that's only relevant for people who are religiously ignorant. I've been aware of Satan's role in the bible, and anyone who actually reads it should understand this straight off the page, but people often don't make genuine conclusions, and mainly listen to the popular opinion. But in reading revelations, God's will required the anti-christ ruling over the earth, and then after that happened, the second coming and all of that stuff. I've made my terms with God and Satan, but I hardly see that as how God works in our reality. The idea of God is an ever progressing ideal, and continues to refine it self, as it should with revelations. So why people continue to propound what is essentially an old straw man, and by that, I mean how the entire role of God and Satan are often misinterpreted on how one functions with the other, so this is in a sense, the worst inaccurate version to put out there is being wrongly represented as the right conclusion, so for those like myself who have made this discovery but continue to believe in God, these points are very unenlightening, simply because I've already come across them myself. Even angels killed in the bible, how is any of this a dent to the intellectuals conception of God who actually took time to understand the bible?

+leviathan samson +Telagio if I already believe "a lie," then it's a lie I discovered in the bible! in reading job, I found god to be more evil than satan. if you find my interpretations to be flawed, please point them out to me. Let me leave you with one example of why I call this god evil...he was certainly devoid of any sensitivity to human values and love of family. God gave Satan permission to murder Job's 10 sons and daughters. After the wager was won by god, god made it a point to pay Job off for all he had subjected him to. God gave Job more money, more cattle, etc. But here's the really weird part....For taking Job's children from this world, god decided to give Job 19 brand new sons and daughters! That's right, he didn't resurrect Job's original children (I don't know why not, he was god, after all) But no, god gave Job ten complete strangers to replace the ones god had murdered! But here's the kicker...god wanted to do more than just replace Job's kids with strangers, so he made these replacements more beautiful and more handsome than Job's originals!! Now, can you imagine how Job must have felt? How demeaning and insulting could god get? Job hadn't even grieved yet! I guess god expected Job to go on as if nothing had happened and treat his new kids as if they'd been around since day one! It's insane, the whole story, especially god's state of mind and behavior...insane! If you had been Job, how you would've handled that.

The Bible also has a lot in common with Mein Kampf. Everyone in Nazi Germany got one, nearly nobody read it, and had more people read it and read just what kind of insane bullshit is written in there, maybe a lot of atrocities could have been avoided.

As a child, Satan was also the first thing I recall questioning. I heard the story of Job, and I said to my parents, "What if everything bad that happens is just the devil working with God to test us?" And they said, "No, you've misinterpreted the story, that was a one time thing." But that was, to me, a workable solution to this big conundrum about why God allows evil to exist, why he doesn't just smash Satan into bits right now.
@klutterkicker9 жыл бұрын
***** War, strife a bloodshed have been happening since long before the first coming. As a method of exposing Satan, it's clear that waiting for bad things to make evil self-evident is not viable. And if one angel revolution wasn't bad enough, saying that they're going to keep rebelling against God doesn't grant much confidence in him as a leader.

As a person who is just in the past couple of years finding my way out of the bullshit of religion and accepting myself as an Atheist I appreciate these videos. Unless you have found your way out of the mess that is religion yourself you will never really understand how hard that struggle can be. Even though I could never believe that lie again it helps to watch these videos and bolster my strength and knowledge against the ignorance in the same way that Christians go to church to renew their faith. Of course, the major difference is that I new require no faith to be free any longer! A very sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of those out there fighting the good fight against ignorance.

About Erishkigal. It's worth mentioning that depending on which tradition you are following Erishkigal is either the sister or an alternative version of Inanna, also called Ishtar. Inanna was the goddes of fertility and life. She was also the patron goddes of the city of Uruk. Inanna was, again depending on the tradition you are following, the daughter or the wive of the god of water and wisdom Enki. After besting enki at a drinking game she tricks him into giving her the twelve "me" powers which essentially gave her absolute power over everything making her one of the first all-powerful gods. By the way, i highly recommend you to read those songs, they are beautiful. Back to the point, enki is the sumerian main deity and also a predecessor to the jewish god Yehova.

This video is old but it summed up a lot of things and Aron was amazing to listen to. The level of education and the fashion in which he articulates the knowledge always keeps my attention. I would love to have his level of knowledge. I'm studying hard so, eventually, I'll get there. Aron and Matt Dillahunty inspire me to learn, to see things as they are and not how one filled with fantastic myths would paint it. Loving every minute of Aron's and Matt's videos when they come out.

Nathan Thompson The interesting question is whether religion brings ingnorance or ignorance brings religion. Bit of a "chicken or the egg" dilemma there.
@Awfulwriter9 жыл бұрын
I don't think the "chicken and the egg" analogy works for this question. I think it is more that there is a symbiotic link between the two each one feeding off the other, neither truely dying while the other one still lives. Also I think it is unfair to call EVERY religious person ignorant. Maybe swapping the word "religion" with "fundamentalism" would be fairer.

The Church of Satan has renounced violence. It would be nice if christianity did the same. No it does not deserve to be capitalized.
@keybladesrus9 жыл бұрын
Michael Dziengel Why does it not deserve to be capitalized? Christianity is a proper noun, and should be capitalized according to the rules of the English language. It's not about respect. Would you still not capitalize it if a sentence started with the word? For example, my second sentence. It would just look weird to have the first word of my sentence in lower case. I'm an Atheist, by the way, so I'm not coming at this from a Christian bias. There's just no sense in breaking the rules of a language simply because you don't respect a certain group of people.
@bnipmnaa9 жыл бұрын
keybladesrus Why have you capitalised "atheist"? It isn't a proper noun. (I'm with Michael Dziengel btw, those nutjob omniscient-wizard-in-the-sky cultists don't deserve even implicit linguistic respect, lol)
@keybladesrus9 жыл бұрын
bnipmnaa Huh. I had often seen it written that way, but I just looked it up, and you're right. Atheist is only capitalized at the beginning of a sentence. Now that I know, I'll write it correctly in the future. That's because I respect the English language, and how I feel about any particular group has nothing to do with that. Christianity is a proper noun, so it gets capitalized. If you don't want to, then fine. Just know that you're incorrect.

+Michael Seo IGNORANCE - The lack of knowledge or information. This talk that Aronra gave was very informative and my knowledge has expanded because of it. Therefore I want to know how you come to that conclusion ?! Also , a theist calling an atheist ignorant is a bit rich, the irony is comical
@mikeyseo8 жыл бұрын
Paul Samartzis Why can't a theist call an atheist ignorant? You must be ignorant to be an atheist. Even as Amen ra said. U are agnostic. Agnosis meaning "without knowledge." As far as you being brain washed , you just said it yourself. "You knowledge" has expanded. That is not knowledge you have received from amen ra. You received lies. And since you confound knowledge with lies and lies with knowledge...you basically believe lies fed to you by someone Amen Ra, and therefore are brainwashed. The guy is basically a cult leader. An atheist cult based on lies. He says "if you dont believe the bible , you dont believe in god." Wrong. What a lie. He says all christians think atheists are satanists and vice versa. Wtf. Not really. Basically i challenge you to. Name one thing he says that IS true. Thats how brain washed you are. He speaks u nod. How can you agree with this guy? He looks like a toad.
@samartzis20008 жыл бұрын
+Michael Seo OK Michael, but I'm going to have to correct you on a couple of things you said. first of all , Agnostic means 'That nothing, Not a thing can be known of a God, or his nature'. It does not mean "without knowledge". On the second correction , yes by listening to a talk and then checking the information and verifying it yourself is useful and expands knowledge. You see I was once an orthodox Christian and I happen to be Greek and I can safely say that Aronra completely gets the parts of the talk 100% right from knowledge that I knew when I was a Christian and the knowledge I have gathered from my ancient ancestors. I knew that part of the talk 34 years ago. The third correction has irony in it. You Aronra a cult leader ? That is exactly what he is opposed to. You obviously don't know too much about him. He detests cults, and is constantly telling followers of cults to give it up, stop being sheep and think for yourself. On your fourth point , I don't know if he said "All" Christians think atheists are satanists , I would have to look at that part again. However I can say that where he lives it is certainly the case. Point five, yes if you are a true Christian, you belive that book 100%. Proudly stated on many Christian creationist websites. isis too, 100% by the book. On your last point, I have just completed your challenge and saying things like ' he looks like a toad' is playground wit which does not help you in any argument .

Aaron makes a great presentation and used logic. Religion will eventually be a minuscule minority as time goes by and people become more educated and non theism is presented in a reasonable matter presenting facts and logic. I left religion a year ago because I got tired of the lies and power struggles. I'm currently a deist but not sure if God really exists. The only evidence I see is the earth and universe. As for beyond that how do we really know? I only wish I quit religion 30 years ago. How differently my life would be. I like what Aaron said about how life is precious because it is so short. I'm 55 years old so I have only 30 more years to enjoy it. I only hot my body cooperates.
@mnbc9898 жыл бұрын
Why a deist? What convinced you that a personal god wasn't real but a non-personal god was?
@davej28278 жыл бұрын
I think deism is a way to still believe in something, but not ignore science. Also a non-involved creator is a way to excuse the suffering in the world. I am atheistic but if I ever were ever to believe, deism is the only way I could do so honestly.
@mnbc9898 жыл бұрын
Dave Jankowski Believing in something which is there is no evidence for isn't honesty; faith isn't honest. At least a theist can claim personal experience, but a deist god doesn't interact.
@davej28278 жыл бұрын
mnbc989 I agree, but some people can't let go of belief entirely. The notion of the soul may be hard to let go of. Some people can't come to terms with the exclusionary aspects of theism not to mention all the holes in the story but can't let go of belief. There is no proof of any higher power. I'm sure personal experience is limited to each person by what they believe. An involved loving god wouldn't let his word be screwed up by man. There would be only one religion. As I said, I don't believe in god (s) but if I chose to believe I would have to go deist for the lack of science denial, the lack of exclusion, and the fact it does not present a flawed story as the word of god.

The panic was such a thing, and it's still on-going, really - Just not as newsworthy anymore. My aunt was taken by cancer when i was young. Very slow departure. Lost most her hair and most her mind. Yet still on her deathbed, she'd handed me her tarot deck, told me she wanted me to have it. I didnt even get to look at them before my parents threw them away. She spent her final days... Well, not quite here. Somewhere else in her head. She was kinda gone already. I dont know if that was a blessing though. I just remember her talking about the little men dancing on her pillow, coughing up blood as the family prayed around her because "she's possessed". I dont really hold them like she did, but i did buy a deck like hers years later. Didnt know her very well but it felt right to have it.
