Give Us a Little Love [COMPLETE Dark Forest Weekend MAP]

Give Us a Little Love is complete! This was a weekend MAP I highly suspected wouldn't complete within the deadline, but I love a challenge. These weekend maps can be fun little challenges both for artists and for me as a host, and I have so much fun trying to push myself to see what I can do, even if I'm not sure I can. I've done one 72 hour map before with 42 parts, and it went over deadline a little bit but not too much, so i was still pretty confident I could get it done, and I did, even if it took a wee bit extra time than usual! I'm so proud of this one, because of the inspiration and passion I saw not only from artists working on this map, but people inspired BY it to make their own Dark Forest cat backstories or adapt these! I love seeing inthe murder party parts all the different people whos ocs make cameos in their parts haha.
First, HUGE thank you to Owlipoppen for putting together the credits sequence and to Ghobsmacka for conceptualizing and storyboarding it- this is easily hands down the BEST credits sequence of ANY MAP I've hosted. It looks amazing!

I think you're right. He did it because in his logical cold mind, it made sense to defeat the bad guys. Like most sociopaths, it didn't cross his mind that he was killing these cats with lives, families, and personalities. He was just doing his job.

Maggottail’s part made me go onto the verge of tears 😭 it was so SAD at the beginning! I'm specifically talking about Starvedgoat’s part. It was heartbreaking to watch and honestly it was put into an animal situation where “mommy doesn’t want baby because baby is messed up” and it makes me really sad :(((

Starvedgoats part PERFECTLY encapsulated how sad and weird he is. I really wanted his story to be a bit like Mapleshade's in that he isn't the only bad person- the cruelty of those around him drove him to villainy, and like mapleshade it's a tragedy that he ended up there

My versions of each backstory (heavily referenced from this very map!) Houndleap: Formerly a barn cat, Very used to being around sheep, hence the dog being what appears to be a border collie. One day, He saw a patrol. These cats intrigued him and he talked with them about his life as a barn cat, living to make sure mice don't eat the sheep's food. Of course, He tells them about the dog at his barn and how it would chase him, but he would always outrun it. The cats think he has the strength of a warrior, So they give him the option to join him. The next day, He joins windclan, The closest clan to his barn and the ones who sent out the patrol. He takes off his collar, buries it, and stays in the clan for around a year. He is named Houndleap because he always outran the sheepdog. Later, Windclan and Shadowclan argue about their borders, With Shadowclan, As usual, Nudging the borders a little bit. Houndleap grows to resent shadowclan, and in his mind, A plan is brewing to kill them all off. In the next moon or so, He digs up his collar and goes back to his barn. He wakes up the dog and Houndleap leads him to shadowclan, Where he kills off around a third of shadowclan, including their leader. While doing this, however, The dog manages to get him while he gloats over his victory. Snowtuft: Snowkit was born deaf, And could never be a warrior. At first, He loved the idea of being a medicine cat, But soon he grew jealous of the warrior apprentices. He gets SO jealous in fact, That snowpaw ends up poisoning all the warrior apprentices whoever they would come into the den. Snowpaw always claimed that they got an infection or that it was an accident. As a full medicine cat, Snowtuft moved on from petty jealousy and moved on to poisoning every single thunderclan cat, Even his own mentor, Because he has become addicted to it. Soon, his apprentice finds out, and the apprentice gives him the scar we all know and love. But before snowtuft died, He ate some deathberries along with feeding them to his apprentice, resulting in a murder-suicide. Rushtooth: When rushkit was born to Graywhisker, She had a sister named Silverkit, who graywhisker cared for a lot more than rushkit, because rushkit was born with abnormally long canine teeth, which scared graywhisker. Rushkit always scared off other kits, and the apprentices would mock her, Calling her names and picking on her. Silverkit and Graywhisker never seemed to help. Later, Silverkit and Rushkit become Silverstripe and Rushtooth. Rushtooth goes on a patrol with graywhisker, And as she admires how clear the water is, Rushtooth shoves her in the water as revenge for never standing up for her when the older apprentices bullied her. She goes to camp and claims that she didn't do it, And rushtooth loves the attention she never got. Rushtooth later kills each apprentice who bullied her, And the clan begins to suspect that rushtooth is killing all of the cats, as they always seem to die on patrols with rushtooth and nobody else, Silverstripe being the main sceptic. On a patrol with silverstripe, Rushtooth makes her final kill, Where she attempts to shove silverstripe off of a cliff, But silverstripe has quick reflexes, And pulls rushtooth down, killing rushtooth with her. Silverhawk: Silverhawk always had a thing for she-cats, And he has two he is attracted to. One's name is Whitetuft, A she-cat from thunderclan, And Ravenshade, A she-cat from shadowclan. He loves ravenshade more, Despite seemingly being loyal to whitetuft. Whitetuft later catches a glimpse of Silverhawk talking to ravenshade about his plans to Leave thunderclan to be with Ravenshade, Who is expecting silverhawk's kits. Whitetuft goes to the entrance of Shadowclan camp, Where she scolds silverhawk and accuses him of cheating. Silverhawk kills her, To avoid the beans being spilled. Ravenshade wittnesses all of this and tells her leader, Who exiles silverhawk, who becomes a rouge known around twolegplace to seduce and impregnate kittypets (no he does not rape them, He just seduces them) And he takes a liking to those who look like Ravenshade. Later, Silverhawk is killed by a thunderclan patrol when he tries to rejoin the clans. Shredtail: COMING SOON!

I have a theory about Snowtuft, and no it isn't the Snowkit one. In a dangerous path it was said that there was once a white kit with blue eyes that was also deaf and one day they vanished, everyone thought that a fox had killed it but perhaps Brokenstar sent a cat on a raiding party like what happened with Cinder/Bracken/Bright/WhoeverItWas. Their deafness would have been cured when they died, so it is likely that Snowtuft is the white kit mentioned.

This map helped me make cool dark forest cats! Here's the best one: Thornheart lost her litter in a kitting gone wrong, she was struck with unbearable grief, she had been waiting for kits her whole life. Luckily, next new-leaf, she discovered that she was expecting a new litter, she was overjoyed, and couldn't wait, there were many kit's already in the nursery and plenty on the way, and she was happy that her kits would have plenty of friends to play with. That is until she overheard the medicine cat Littlelight telling the clan leader, Sugarstar, about a prophecy. *Three, the kits of Skyclan, would bring hope and light, in the darkest of times*. Her grief of her first litter powering her ambition for her kits to be special, she made a choice, f her kits were not the chosen ones, then no kits would be. She would always volunteer to care for kits while the queens went out for a walk, or to go hunting. then when no cat was watching she would kill the kits, swiftly, and clean herself of the blood. When the queens returned, they were shocked, and asked what happened, Thornheart always made excuses, "It was a fox, i tried to save them, but I'm just not agile enough, with my kits so close to being born," was one of the excuses she used, and every cat believed her. When her kits were born one of them had a kink in it's tail, another was missing half of its right front leg, the other was a bobtail. She loved them none the less, but continued her scheme, even when they watched. On one particular night, a queen named Greyfoot left her two-moon-old kits with her, and Thornheart again killed them. but by this time, young Littlekit, the only tom in her litter had grown strong enough, and brave enough to do something. He leaped and grasped hard on her throat with his teeth. Lilykit, the one with deformed leg, grabbed his back foot, which was dangling above her, and pulled hard, yelling for him to let go or she might kill him too,blood spurted over the two kits as they tore out her throat, Lilykit stared in horror as her mother struggled for breath and fell to the ground, her eyes glazing over. Just after that Greyfoot walked into the nursery and gasped in shock. "Lilykit! Littlekit! What have you done you Beasts!" She yowled, "You've killed my kits and your own mother! How could you do such a thing!" "I didn't kill your kits!" Littlekit mewed, "My mother did! I killed her because of it! And she has killed a lot more kits than just yours!" "Is this true?" Greyfoot asked the to she-kits. They both nodded I'll add more if people like this :)

Greyfoot brought the two kits to Sugarstar's den. As they entered the den Sugarstar's apprentice, Amberpaw left the den. "Hello Geyfoot is something wro- What happened!?" She sat there mouth wide, " What happened to these kits?" "It's not what happened to them, it's what happened to mine" Greyfoot spoke, her voice sharp with pain. "What happened?" "They were killed... and these two killed their mother, and I think they killed my kits as well." "We didn't I swear!" Tinykit mewed, "Yes I killed my mother! But only because she has killed every kit in the nursery except us!" "It's true!" Lilykit mewled. "Well what should I do about this then?" Sugarstar asked calmly, "Should I tell your clanmates that you killed your mother, or that she was a murderer, or should I tell them everything" "Please don't tell them anything!" He cried, "I'd rather be a suspected murderer than the son of one! Or worse, a confirmed murderer!" "Alright then," Amberstar mewed, "Now clean yourselves up, you can't keep that blood on you." Each of them picked up one of the kits, and laid them in the clearing, they laid their mother's body as well, not to honor her, but to keep the secret. They sat vigil for their clanmates that night, but he and his siblings sat only for the kits, and made it clear to StarClan by sitting on the side of the kits that was farthest from their mother. ~~2 months later~~ "Is he there?" a small she-kit mewed to her friends. "I don't know," Another one squeaked. Littlekit wandered into the den, he was almost six moons old now. "There he is!" the kits ducked into the nest trying not to be seen. "What's so wrong with him?" A small tom-kit asked. "There's a rumor that he murdered three kits and his mother!" One of the she-kits squealed "I know you're back there you three." Littlekit glanced at the pile of bracken that they were hiding in. "EEK! Don't kill us!" The other she-kit cried. Littlekit sighed and went to his nest, he curled up his bobtail twitching. The tom-kit stood up, "why do you guys treat himso rudely?" he asked the she-kits. "Because he murdere-" "NO! You simply think that he murdered kits! I'm tired of you two!" he padded over to where Littlekit was in his nest, "Hello," he mewed. Just tell me if you want more! :D

Okay so I was at Shredtail's script, ya know, just re-reading them as I usually do. And the part where it says he was starving and mad, I had a really random thought. What if after he went on his killing spree, he started eating the dead cats? Like, it would make a little sense, and make him much more original. I love this MAP because it focuses of the less popular Dark Forest cats. For years I've always been fascinated with the dead cats in the series - both StarClan and Dark Forest - who don't have a lot of canon info. Cause it leaves a lot of room for interesting theories and headcanons. But I wonder what their lives were like, what their role was, what the bad ones did to end up in the dark forest, etc. Is that weird? I'm I the only one who's focused on that? 😂

Story Wise, here's my opinion of each Dark Forest cat from worst to best; 7. "Silverhawk." There just isn't a lot to go off on. All we know about Silverhawk (In Draik's AU for these cats, whatever it may be) is that he's in two relationships in one Clan and decided to kill his wife because she was going to tell the other she-cat that she's part of an affair. 6. "Snowtuft." Snowtuft's concept is very intriguing! An Evil Medicine Cat? Heck yeah! Except again, like Silverhawk, we have very little to work with. Snowtuft is a Medicine Cat and he's angry with other Apprentices for some reason, so he just decides to poison everyone before being killed by his mentor. You know, it actually sounds something like the Erins themselves would write just to piss everyone off. 5. "Rushtooth." Rushtooth is a Riverclan Serial Killer who takes advantage of her Clan's territory and drowns her victims after luring them out and away from Camp until they were both alone. Again, there's a lack of actual story and since otherwise had not been specified, it doesn't make sense that Riverclan Warriors wouldn't know what to do if they were actually put in that position. 4. "Sparrowfeather." Finally, story. From what we can interpret, Sparrowfeather's part is a nice homage to Tallstar's Revenge with the Tunnelers being oppressed by the Moor Runners and Sparrowfeather, who for duality's sake I'm going to assume is Windclan Deputy, plots against her Leader and rallies up the Tunnelers for a rebellion. Also a nice nod to Mudclaw and Onestar! Everything's self explanatory after that, they have a fight and Sparrowfeather takes it too far. Solid work. 3. "Maggottail." What?! How dare you put Maggottail at some place that isn't #1! Well hear me out, hear me out! I find his story is, while a lovely concept, weak. Pun 100% intended. Maggottail was born heavily defected, seemingly with mange, very little muscle mass and strange deformities. His mama clearly did not love him, it seems. Shadowclan's Leader (At least I assume this is Shadowclan) is reluctant to name Maggotkit an Apprentice, upsetting the tom who storms off in a dazed rage. This is where the story falls apart for me; Maggotkit just decides to attack and murder a bunch of other Apprentices before asking Shadowclan's Leader again. He gets the bright idea of attacking her and we can assume how it ends. Nonetheless, enjoyable. 2. "Shredtail." Despite the fact that I love, love, LOVE Shredtail's part, I'm not going to gift him the Number 1 Spot. However, that doesn't mean I thoroughly enjoyed the connection between Warriors Canon after Redstar sends Skyclan into exile, with one particularly angry Warrior quickly separating his tie with Skyclan and seeking refuge in the Twolegplace as a stray. It just so happened that the Twolegplace he lived in was right next to the land of the Leader who had driven his Clan out and forced Shredtail to scrounge for food like a filthy vagabond. Despite how suicidal it seemed to charge right into Thunderclan Territory and take his anger out, Shredtail fell into obsession and began silently attacking random Thunderclan Warriors, working his way up from Younger to Seniors, Deputy and finally, to Leader. The last part with a bloodstained Shredtail and Redstar charging at each other as the sun sets over the beautiful plains in the background was stunning and the story of the Exiled Warrior lingered in the memories of the Clans, a frightening story for the Elders of Thunderclan to tell the terrified young kits for the Seasons to come. 1. "Houndleap." As well as being beautifully animated, Houndleap's story is well thought out. A kittypet, possibly before the time of a positive opinion of kittypets being taboo, named Hound longs for a better life outside of the confinements of his Housefolk Den. Leaving behind his old friend, who for comedy sake I shall name "Stray", Hound searches for purpose in the wilderness and stumbles across the Clan Cats. After a short test of patience from hostile Warriors, Hound tears off his collar almost effortlessly, his blunt, subtle statement impressing the Warriors of, who I'll guess are, Thunderclan. Hound leads the nice, normal life of an ordinary Thunderclan Warrior, adopting the name Houndleap after Apprenticeship, except since a violent border dispute or denial of access to Shadowclan in a scene of emergency, he was often seen glaring silently over at the Shadowclan Border, flexing his claws in and out. Out of misguided loyalty to his Clan, Houndleap backtracks to his old Twoleg Den and discovers Stray wandering out of the house at night. The scent of Warrior and his rugged appearance send Stray into an excited yet blind rage and pursues Houndleap back to the Clans, towards Shadowclan Camp. So full of belief that he had done the right thing and defeated the bad guys, Houndleap trots smugly back towards Thunderclan, unaware of a thick shadow slowly looming over him and growing larger after every passing second..

Houndleap was in WindClan, as evidenced by the openness of the territory of the Clan he joins. ThunderClan have a forested territory. My theory about Rushtooth was that she thrived off the attention she received from "witnessing" the horrific death, as she returns to camp crying and secretly smile as her clanmates comfort her. I would also point out that even the best swimmers probably wouldn't know what to do if a stronger person were holding them underwater. Knowing how to swim doesn't make you immune from being held underwater by a stronger person. Snowtuft's motivations, I believe, were simply sadism. Sometimes people hurt people simply for the joy of it, not for any logical reason.

Your analysis is basically what I thought about Maggottail, too. In my opinion, he deserved to die and go to the dark forest. He was a terrible cat. The other cats minded their business, so he killed them? Stupid. And then thought he would be rewarded. I don't get why so many people pity him. I love his story so much. I just think he deserved the consequences of his actions instead of to be treated like the victim of this situation like other people say. He caused TONS more pain than he received.

Here's what I think about some of their backstories: Houndleap - Houndleap was, like Firestar, originally a kittypet who wanted to live the life of a forest cat. One night, when his twolegs and their dog was asleep, he snuck out of the house and went to the moor, where he was found by a WindClan patrol. The patrol mocked his kittypet origins and, furious, Houndleap took off his collar and threw it on the ground. The patrol was surprised and the head of the patrol, the deputy, brought him back to the camp, where the leader reluctantly agreed to let him in. He was constantly taunted about his roots, and he worked harder than any other cat to prove himself. He was Houndpaw, then he became Houndleap, a strong warrior of WindClan. Soon the leader grew older, and appointed him as the deputy as Houndleap was the only warrior strong enough to take her place. But being deputy wasn't enough. As they were on a border patrol, they encountered a RiverClan group who provoked the WindClan cats and insulted Houndleap. He wanted them to be finished off, and he remembered his collar which still lay in the spot where he first met WindClan. He went back and wore the collar before running back to his twoleg nest, and the dog was fortunately still there. He led the dog, who did not remember who he was, into the Clan territory where the battle was. The dog killed off many of the cats, both WindClan and RiverClan. Houndleap watched as the dog picked off the cats one by one until he was the only one. Satisfied, he went back to camp to tell the leader about the dog, in his own version which the dog suddenly appeared, but he was ambushed by the dog and was killed and sent to the Dark Forest. Snowtuft - Snowtuft was apprenticed to the medicine cat of ThunderClan. He learned a lot from his mentor, and helped his Clanmates as best as he could. But then, he saw something that changed his life forever. He saw his brother with another she-cat, happily together, playing and sharing tongues. He was jealous that medicine cats couldn't have mates, and wanted to punish the code for it. He found as many deathberries as he could and stuffed them into the prey in the fresh-kill pile. Many cats ate the prey and were poisoned to death. His mentor couldn't save all the cats and realised that it was Snowtuft who poisoned the cats. Blinded with fury, he attacked Snowtuft and killed him. Rushtooth - Rushtooth had a normal life as a kit, and then when she was an apprentice in a battle between RiverClan and ShadowClan her mother fell into the river and drowned. One of the warriors explained that she jumped into the river to try and save her, but she failed to do so. Rushtooth held a strong grudge against that warrior ever since. When she became a warrior, the warrior asked her if she hated her for not being able to save her mother, and Rushtooth nearly blurted out her answer too quickly, but she thought carefully and said no, and that she forgave her. Thankful, the warrior asked if she wanted to go for a walk by the river, and Rushtooth agreed. When they were walking by the river, Rushtooth remembered the event when her mother drowned and asked the warrior a question about her mother. When the warrior looked at the river's reflection to answer, Rushtooth shoved the warrior into the water and held her down until she drowned. She wasn't satisfied enough yet. She wanted to get revenge on the warrior's sister, because the silver-and-white she-cat was there during the battle as well, and didn't do anything. She found the sister and asked her to walk with her. The warrior agreed, slightly confused, and followed Rushtooth. Rushtooth led her to a gorge and when she looked away, Rushtooth proceeded to push her off the edge. She managed to throw her off the cliff, but the warrior hooked her claws into Rushtooth's pelt and pulled her down too. They both fell into the river below and drowned.

Okay...so this is what I got from this: 1) Houndleap Left his twoleg-place to join a clan, when they got into trouble with a neighboring group he lured his old family dog into their camp to run rampage. In the end, the dog killed him, too. 2) Snowtuft Cute little angel, became a medicine apprentice and had much passion for all the herbs and their affects, but...got...jealous (??) of the other cats and almost poisoned the entire clan to show them he's much more than just some kit playing with leaves...his old mentor was devastated and slit his belly up with her claws like he did with the prey to stuff them full of berries, leaving his famous scar. 3) Rushtooth For whatever reason she was drowning cats in one of the rivers on their territory when going on walks with them and fell in with one of her victims one time...whoops. 4) Silverhawk Apparently he was leading on two she-cats and 'sleeping around', to put it in human perspective. When one of his flames tried to confront another one he stopped her, got angry and killed her, but got caught by his clan. 5) Shredtail I have NO idea what is happening in this one. He's watching some machines tear open some ground, so I'm guessing that used to be his territory and his leader is leaving with the clan or something? Anyway, apparently he goes all sneaky and murders a LOT of them, then fights that brown cat and loses. No idea who any of them were or why he did that though. 6) Sparrowfeather Looks like she managed to convert a portion of her clan to follow her (for reasons I'm too dumb to understand) and...I think she challenged the current leader to a battle or something? Well, she won and killed the leader, which her clanmates didn't apprecheate. 7) Maggottail This one was well-done. Maggottail was born sickly, weak and ugly, his family rejected him, he had no friends, his clan looked down on him and the leader didn't value him at all. He got jealous of his carefree clanmates, taking life for granted, and murdered three of them, enjoying the feeling of finally having some influence over his oh-so-holy peers. With his new-found confidence he went to his leader again, but nothing had changed and he went for them. It's not clear if he got killed in the fight or won and died some time after that. So yeah, Houndleap and maggottail were very well-narrated, Snowtuft had gorgeous animation but his motives were pretty foggy, Rushtooth didn't have ANY motives and was probably just completely crazy and murderous, but at least I knew what was happening at all times. Silverhawk was also well-narrated, but his story was kind of weak. Why kill the she-cat? She seemed like she was trying to leave anyway and his clanmates were right there... Shredtail I didn't get at ALL, it was impossible to follow any narration past the first scene and all I got was 'cats left, he killed a bunch, then died', but I had NO idea who was who. I don't know how much I understood about Sparrowfeather here, since I didn't get the black drawings on the wall behind her in her first scene. I hope I wasn't too far off, it was still pretty good - especially the graphics. Gorgeous! All in all this was a GREAT AMV, my biggest issue with this was Shredtail's part because it was just incomprehensible, even after watching it multiple times, but the others were all good enough, along with some stars such as Maggottail, Snowtuft und Houndleap! The part at the end where they all had a little moment for themselves was great, too, so well done everyone!

Trying to fit seven stories in four minutes is Hard!! Okay so you nailed it with houndleap but real quick, my intention; rushtooth was drowning people and then getting sympathy from her clanmates, and shredtail was in skyclan and chose to stay behind after his clan left, and out of rage he went on a serial killer spree through the clans before a final showdown with redstar, who banished his clan. Also snowtuft is the hardest because my original intent had to get watered down for time, but, originally my intent was that he was jealous of the other apprentices who weren't paying attention to him anymore now that he wasn't a warrior, so he poisoned them thinking he would just make them sick enough he could save them and then be a hero but he overdid it and everyone died. Also, with silverhawk, when the second girlfriend found out the other one was pregnant she was going to tell her because she hadn't realized she was the "other woman" and she wanted his "wife" to know the truth and he panicked and murdered her so she couldnt

Absolutely phenomenal! :) I know it's been a while since it was posted...but if someone could tell me what books to read to get insight on these characters, that would be awesome! I read the link and figured out the names...but I have no idea what books these characters are relevant in.

None of them, actually! At the time I produced this MAP, there were very few dark forest cats, and a big pile of them we basically didnt know anything other than their names! Theyre just mentioned to exist in the background. I thought it would be fun to make up a backstory for each one. All of the stories were written by me.
