I have a manually powered wheelchair. However, I use assistive technology to put some power behind me. I have used two types, SmartDrive and SMOOV. I highly recommend these devices for frequent wheelchair users.

Thank you for your review, this was very helpful, since I just got the smoov . Your right about the shoulders, I blow out my shoulders out and needed the smoov for long distances, otherwise I push manually to maintain strength in my arms.

Thanks for this video! This is exactly the video I was looking for on KZbin. I have the first Smart Drive that came out. The max speed that it could go was 5 mph. That’s fast. I would accidentally take off many times. It also did have many faults, but I really liked it because I didn’t know there was anything else around. I’ve run into many walls that way. I’m excited to learn about the new device.

Thanks for the comparison of these two options. I currently use the first version of the Bluetooth SmartDrive and it's definitely in need of a replacement. I was wondering what you (or anyone else here) can tell me about the maintenance on SMOOV. I typically need to purchase/install a SmartDrive roller replacement kit about every 3-4 months. That adds up quickly. What is your experience regarding the long-term maintenance of these two modules?

Hi there! Thanks for stopping by! So far I have not had to do any maintenance with the SMOOV, so I am pretty happy with that! The SmartDrive on the other hand, I went through multiple wristbands within a year or so, I really love the SMOOV. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for the comparative review. I have the first version of the SmartDrive, with the separate battery. If you push your chair manually with the SMOOV, without it adding assistance, how much do you feel weight, drag, etc. and how does that compare with the SmartDrive?

Hi Brian, thanks for stopping by! Although SMOOV is a little heavier than SmartDrive, the weight and drag is not too bad. I notice more weight when I am trying to push myself on carpet and when I am trying to move myself backwards. I hope this answers your question, but reply back if you have anymore!

I LOVE the SMOOV. I zoom around with it! I have also increased the speeds since the filming of this video. I hope your insurance company approves it for you!
