When I became a Catholic my step-son, an atheist, said people only turn to God and religion when they are needy and want something of God. I told him that wasn't true I converted because I want to spend the rest of my life thanking God for blessing me with the life I have led, a true gift. From the look on his face I think I touched a chord.
@rjskeptic52735 жыл бұрын
Your step-son may have lacked a comprehensive explanation for the many reasons to believe in a god. But even though you think you touched a chord, doesn't mean your belief in a god is true.

@@rjskeptic5273 It also does not imply it is false, you are speaking just as circularly but attempting to use it to tear down something another person holds dear. Today I laid to rest one of the greatest shepherds of my life. My Grandfather. Stan. In July of 2019 I had a very strong coming to Jesus moment. I started going to daily mass with my grandpa and having long, inspired talks on the drive there. We’ve always been close but my reversion to Christ made us even closer. My faith would not be what it is today without him, and that goes for my entire family and even the parishioners of my home parish. He inspired faith in a way that was just contagious. I will be eternally thankful to have had him to guide us through the tough times, and the good times. He will always be missed however He will always be in our hearts. I ask for prayers for Stan in his journey with Lord Jesus. Thank you all for all of the wonderful good you all do. Thank you. God Bless.

Fr Mark-Mary, great talk! It ajusts, it focuses in good ways. I'm sure M.Trump did bad things în his life. But normally, as Christians, we shouldn't judge but pray "even for our enemies"... On my part, I'm not the one who's to criticise him "to be among the world" or to ridicule ahour his patriotism when he does do good things with his position. I remember when he send his own jet air plan to bring back soldiers from Irak to their families; I remember when he pardoned some jailed black people as he did recently. I don't care what people can think of me when I talk about Trump this way against what others think of him. He isn't perfect and, what's good, he doesn't wait to be perfect to act there and there...little by little it's adding up. And on my part, with a beautiful wake up call from you to the sens of Epiphany,, Fr Mark-Mary, it recalls me where I could share also. I'll give also as much as "it'll talk inside of me", to feel "a part of thanks to God" for what He has done freely to me. God bless! And thanks!

Excellent analogy but still have no Idea what “natchos” are (I’m in the uk)
@drcardinalli5 жыл бұрын
Oh Adam, I am in New Mexico, so I can help. They are the epitome of deliciousness. At the most basic, they are warm corn crisps topped with melted cheese and jalapeno peppers. This is something you might eat as a snack at a movie. However, there is no limit to how elaborate they can be. At a restraunt or pub, they can be an appetizer or a whole meal. Usually then they'd also be topped with refried beans, spicy marinated beef or chicken, salsa, sour cream, black olives, lettuce, and tomato. The whole flavor is better than the sum of its parts, though, I promise you. If you have not had this, you are deprived! Now, immediately proceed to microwave a plate or corn crisps (like tostitos if you have those) with shredded cheddar on top and a few chili peppers or a bit of something hot. Microwave just until the cheese melts... and don't forget to say grace! 🤣
