@Exotic Lair I know this like a year late, but I figured I would give a tip. When I owned my baby Loki (Bearded Dragon) I had him potty trained, every morning before he ate breakfast I would take him in the bathroom and sit him in warm water. Sure enough within the first 5-10 minutes he would relieve himself. He never went in his tank or had a problem with impactation because the fact of he had that constant water supply every morning, I had a small bowl of water in his tank but he never used it. I found out when he was a baby that they actually adsorb water through their vent, being that he had his water every morning he didn't need it no where near as much. It also helped with shedding as well. It may help you with preventing impacting or constipation. Its a chore to do every morning, but it really helps.

@@RoddPH ha my parents were forced into all kinds of pets from me and my sister, growing up we would just bring things home and since they are soft and animal lovers they would just accept it with some minor bitching. But they are the nicest and cleanest lizard you could buy! A turtle is more scary with how dirty they are your most likely gonna get salmonella or nicer than the gecko we named Lucifer for he liked to bite everyone. Oh and they don't stink like a snake cage either. It's what I got my kid for his first exotic pet when he was a toddler. He wants a snake or tarantula but I just don't have the space or money to spare tbh with 2 older dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds, a 55 gallon tank, and a rabbit at my parents cause my son's dad couldn't breathe around him anymore which sucks. I've downsized even from the 12 inch suckerfish and bearded dragon passing away from old age since we got him already full grown and he needed a home asap.

Lauren W the parasite she had was a common pet store parasite, sadly a risk that comes with buying from the pet store (I got her when I was 11 as a Christmas present so where we got her wasn’t exactly up to me). The parasites lay dormant and somewhat harmless unless stressed (if the dragon were to change enclosures for example) I had recently moved her to my sisters house so that she could help me take care of her bc I had gotten a new job that takes up more of my time, which stressed Crystal to the max and set an alarm off in the parasite’s mind saying it needs to abort to survive. So basically me trying to give her the best care ended up killing her.

If I would do this, I would actually make it a deeper bath with an egg crate/Light diffuser. Since it can't really fall through if you keep it just very shallow above. So if they poop, that poop will end up below them and they will not snuggle with their poop as much. Heck, if add a minor sponge finger and a mini pump just to keep the water circulated may help too. Make it a luxurious bath.

Fun fact about Bearded dragons as well as most cold blooded reptiles, Warm water, often a slow cycle of running water helps soothe their bowels and loosens tense muscles which allow them to poop, also, to answer some questions about Bearded dragons and them not pooping, eating, ect for months on end, it's a sort of hibernation state, no they don't sleep, their body is just slower and they tend to eat, drink, and poop a lot less. Try fixing the heating system in their enclosure, switch from glass to fiber glass, or a non reflecting material that is heat safe. Male especially do not like seeing their reflection and will tend to glass surf. Try giving them fresh greens, Mustard greens and Mangos are a good way to help them, don't forget the protein! Superworms and Horned worms, especially horned worms as they are rich in nutrients and give hydration as well as they are heavy with water. I am not a vet or an expert, but I have heard from exotics vets as well as experienced breeders and caretakers and learned as well from this happening to myself. It's hard to find any given solid information as every animal and experience is different. Hopes this helps for everyone.
