PWA + Webgpu + web assembly + local file system access (sandboxed) is the dream. I'd like to ask if full control over the software keyboard for pwa apps is going to be available. Currently for example I can't disable the autocomplete bar for web apps but in a native android app this is trivial.

@@StijnHommes I've already published a hybrid native + PWA to IOS and Android. IOS approval is a nightmare even when everything is in order. Maintaining multiple code bases instead of a single PWA is pain. Now more services like Microsoft game streaming are evading paying the Apple tax by going the PWA route and deter Apple from adding additional PWA support to their OS.

Hi there, Nice talk. Using PWA as a primary way to build products from last 2 years, i have seen great changes. TWA is a real push in android ecosystem ( Apple has also started supporting pwa albeit condescendingly, ). Also addition of new web apis like Contacts api , user Idle detection etc - we are truly heading in the right direction. I have an honest faith in this tech stack. Two Request - 1) When are we going to have Geo Fencing api ? Web is an interconnecting in ways never thought before and apis related to maps, locations etc will matter. 2) Can we have a more option rich install dialog (add to home) box ?

Great suggestions, as for # 3 IDK if this is achived, but how to make a PWA not to loose focus (screen sleep) with the proper permissions, also be able to have background process like updating location to a backend with the screen off, of course all of this with proper user permission... thanks

Request: a consistent *background service* (typical use case is location tracking). I still don't get if `periodic background sync` will come with this kind of purposes in its design.

If the barcode reader app can "Share" the result, then a PWA could receive that using the Share Target API

A big issue for a project we have been working on is that there doesn't seem to be any way to do things on the client while the app is not open. For instance, we want to send a message to the database when the client geolocation is close enough to an area. But our research tells us this is not currently possible to do with PWAs because you cant have it running in the background. Theres a pretty big list of apps that aren't possible in PWA because of this limitation. Just think of any exercise app that wants to keep track of distance traveled or steps made. Or any other app that wants to do anything in that ballpark. Another limitation is not being able to put our app on the IOS app store without something like cordova. I feel like PWAs are the future. But until these limitations are resolved PWAs will still be lacking in some important reguard

15:45 -> There is the concept of manifest.json, there is basically no need to go through the hoops of bubblewrap to define things like a splash-screen. All you'd need is an API for when Google Play should fetch updates.

You should promote Chrome OS much stronger. Every time you mention Windows or Mac, you definitely should mention Chrome OS too. For example: "You may install PWA on any desktop include Windows, Mac OS, Linux and Chrome OS devices as well as on Android and iOS".

I have been following the PWA path and wrapped my app finally in TWA. However, I'm struggling for weeks to publish on Play Store because the reviewers keeps repeating this information that Web Applications aren't accepted in the Play Store. I have been trying to describe to them that this is not a violation of Google guidelines but rather it is following the guidelines. did I waste my time on this contradiction??!!

Double click to your custom file from the OS to open it with PWA? (Chrome PWA file type handling) Ok I'm trying to solve a big problem that causes me to still use "electron". I have my own project filetype (.ddproj) that can be downloaded from the PWA. I'm of course able to open it inside the PWA itself. But the thing i am looking for is double-clicking it directly from the operating system, open my PWA with the content of the file passed. Any solution?
