The trap in the Wing Gambit is old. I found it in an old Dutch language opening book written by Max. Euwe the former world champion. Some years ago the Iranian IM Kamran Shirazi fell for it! You can find the game online! You wonder why a player of the Wing Gambit didn't know that trap. The Wing Gambit was played often by Frank Marshall the US champion from 1909-36.

I played this as white in a team blitz tournament. I played c4 instead of c3. When I announced check mate the people on nearby tables were astonished that we finished so soon. I played the game in 1973 or 1974. After the game I recorded the moves. It is the shortest mate I ever made. I had never had anyone play e5 the Shevesnikov or Pelikan before. This mate has also been in Chess Life magazine some years ago in a column for beginners by Susan Polgar.

The correct move to refuse your tricky opening it's after 9. c3, then instead of 9..., Ng6, play more active 9...., Nf5. Protects the d6 pawn and it will cost you one time to kick him out with Bd3.
@JSOrtiz

Of course without playing a6.

That variation is discussed right after, with Bxb5+ as the response, followed by Bg5+, f6, to which White responds Qg5, threatening Qe6 Mate, and Black's very uncomfortable.

Great videos, I'm an alapin player myself, but it's nice to learn the open sicilian as well. I would really like a video series on the French defence, preferably with the Paulsen or Tarrasch variation. I know you've covered some French advance lines in the chess traps 3 or 4, but I find that if black avoids the traps he equalizes easily.

Even if the Knight it's on g6, after 11. Qc4, instead of Rc8, just capture the Knight 11...., Bxb5. And black got a better opening.

Well really excellent analysis. But, I would have liked to seen the Smith Morara Gambit and the Grand Prix attack as well. Even in your series against the Double King pawn series (Dirty Chess tricks 5-8) you should have included the Cochrane gambit against the Petroff.

at 1:55 you said it is better to go back with the knight to b8, but I think Ne7 is better because first it does not undevelop a piece, second it is not necessary to play Ng6 afterwards, black can play Nf5 and then Qa4 does not work because of bishop d7, and now the d6 pawn is protected twice by the bishop on f8 and knight on f5.
@ElNightmareYT
@ElNightmareYT 6 жыл бұрын
Daniyal Raza Nb8 is indeed better. It's the move of choice by Stockfish 9.

there's nothing wrong with Ne7, knight retreating to his home square is kind of pointless. The real mistake is a6, which only weak players will make.
