After 4 years of learning I still can't play it confidently. But Misty and other popular standards are great as vehicles for training and learning. What is cool about jazz is that every and each of those standards can be played in infinite number of ways always reflecting player's personality...

I am listening....10:05 The language of "Damper pedal"in English is equivalent to "Sustain"- it raises the dampers- which increases volume. To play softly, you use the Una Corda pedal that shifts the action to play the hammers starting closer to the strings / shifts the action laterally to reduce the efficiency of the hammers. A small correction to improve your teaching.

Very interesting Gjermund. I've played Misty for many years, but you have impressed me. My partner is very curious about your origin. Iceland? Sweden? OK, just to be fair: I'm Anglo-Australian and she is (East) German with a big interest in Scandinavia. I've gone back to playing mainly early jazz on all my instruments, but I try to keep my hand(s) in with some of the swing/mainstream standards and so on. I'll try some of your suggestions.

Everyone plays D/Eb on the "look at ME" It's not something you came up with as thousands of musicians have been playing it like that for decades. However I did enjoy your performance on the whole Also...I can't play 10ths 😅 I'm a 9th-er 🙄 Rolling each 10th when walking sounds cringe too
