Hey everyone,
This is a quick video i did a few months ago, this is "Those Whom The Gods Detest" but drums only. We used 7 cameras on this one just as a part of the pre-production of my new DVD. Things are so much improved now so new videos look a lot better!
Hope you like it!
cheers!!

I just now showed my dad this and he's like "Where's the fucking power at? Like John Bonham." I tried to explain to him that with drummers of this style it's more about how you use your hands and feet, more broken down, more technique oriented, less is more kind of a thing. Basically that's what I've gathered out of tons of video of my favorite drummers. I just thought it was an interesting conversation and gave my take on the generation gap/evolution of style. Accurate statement, drummers?

It’s funny he says that because George has some of the most power the tech death drumming world has ever seen lol… this is a comment from when I was still in second grade, but if it still holds up, tell him that high speed equals less velocity capacity, as in it’s impossible to do these speeds while hitting as hard as John Bonham does at low 100s because high speed means some velocity has to be sacrificed

Any experienced metal drummers out there that can help me? Ive been playing with a double kick pedal for a few years now, but Im thinking about switching to 2 single kick drums instead. So im wondering if there is difference in the feeling. Will i have to adapt to a whole new technique for speed, or is it quite similar??

In this genre, you really need to hear the product of the whole band to get the effect. I definitely agree that the separate parts sound similar, it's what they all do together that makes them so unique.

If your double bass pedal isn't crap and was properly balanced with the regular one, you probably won't see a lot of difference. The principle is the same, there isn't any difference in technique, at worst you'll only have to get used to your pedal feeling slightly different because there's less resistance. But be warned it's a bit more annoying to keep two bass drums in tune with each other than it is to just use the same one and not worry about that.

Hehehe, 'tis true. George plays zero shortcuts though; the single foot blasts, very few drummers do that. Like, Francesco from Fleshgod (Love that band to death, don't get me wrong), he's using double strokes akin to a buzz roll on the feet most times, and he definitely does two foot blasting (As do most), Still unbelievably fast and precise and I'm a big fan, but I've got more respect for George, because he doesn't need to do that to play inhuman speeds.

...but you are misunderstanding me. I appreciate all death metal stuff that includes technique. I just mentioned that thing of the fill to... you know, to make a little funny comment of this (maybe I had to put a smily face like this ---> XD next to it to express myself well). So, I just want you to know that I'm not a hater, troll or whatever and I really admire this stuff... It was just a bad understanding I hope...

I'm not pointing to any mistike man. He is George Kollias (he would never have a mistake XD) and one of my favorite drummers. Also, by the way, Death Metal is one of my favorite genres in music. I listen to bands like this, Nile, others like JFAC, Black Dahlia, Spawn Of Possession, Beyond Creation, Gorod, etc. and they all blow me away! Blastbeats, fills, and double bass in 200bmp or higher can't be played by anyone. And yes, I can't play this yet. I still need lots of practice to achieve this..

@FurbyParade226 Heel-toe would require you to lift your heel too. Lifting your leg and slamming your heel in along with the rest of the leg is still heel-up as well. And while, yes, he does lift his heel, the secret to his speed is the ankle rotation, not his heel going up. I'd argue that his technique is not THAT much different from heel toe.
@Gigadrane

Uh, This pertains to Nile, but the bassist in the band is he actually real ? Or is he just composed of the spells from Papyrus and an old Hittite Incantation which allows the possessor to create a being to your will ?, and you made him play bass ? Because I know everyones in the band but the bassist nor is he ever talked about....
