Brahms--ever so sublime. I have really gotten into piano trios, quartets, and quintets the last few years. There is so much more richness than I ever thought there could be. At times, some piano quintets feel like a full orchestra. It's delightfully deceptive.

Lugansky hits that last low C as if it’s the hammer of fate. Superbly percussive.

Isn’t it an F instead of C?:)

@@jsj1639Technically it’s the penultimate base note before the final F, so yes it is a low C.

See (Eccl. 7:4)…house of mourning. Brahms not only takes there, but gives a guided tour of subterranean structures of the heart…

Very good interpretation of Brahms piano quintet. The pianist is a great player. I love this piece.

I'm reading the Jan Swafford biography on Brahms and I often stop to hear on KZbin a mentioned work. Isn't brilliant to to be able to do that. Thank you KZbin

I've always loved this piece---with the exception of the slow movement, which is one of the dullest things Brahms ever wrote. Wonderful performance though...
@nickgoldring14468 ай бұрын
@Janaceks... I get what you mean, but disagree, it's almost as if you are invalidating the slow movement, which does deserve repeated listening. I love it.

The second movement is too fast. It loses all interest, sounds rushed. Amaaaaazing performance otherwise
