this film is like a poem, it captures in such figurative visual language but it is so clear in its meaning, so well-defined and not at all hiding its reality. It almost hurts too much to watch, but it makes me so thankful for the life I have. So thankful for all of the little things that truly matter

As a woman born on this planet.. either you are heavenly princess or normal human...Life definitely gets you. She definitely goes through it all and the movie gives you that sunken deep pain in your heart...you can feel it for days. All that she ever wished for is to feel free and live this life for herself in her own choices. Wonderful movie to withhold and cherish ❤

One of my all-time favourite films and the best Studio Ghibli film by far, if you ask me. A perfect marriage of Takahata's visual ingenuity and ambitious storytelling together with Miyazaki's sense of wonder and thematic focus. Poetic and beautiful, heartbreaking yet hopeful.

I'm glad this was chosen for Ghibli fest 2024. I saw it in theaters when it released and was blown away. I'll be sure to see it this time as well. Phenomenal movie!
