I can see how there could be room for a zwerch-like cut with the short edge, but I feel like this interpretation misses "glance off with the inverted flat down their blade". To me, there are more well-executed zwerchhauws than a Glützhauw. To me, I've always interpreted it more as a schielhauw-like cut where you seek contact with your flat against your opponent's blade before coming down with the short edge against their head. This is really one of the trickiest techniques to interpret, as we have so few mentions of it in Meyers's books.

Yes in my research I saw it was the flat being used, but found it left your hands exposed, often being cort or struck. That could have been for a number of reasons on my part. It also felt very weak against their outside edge when we performed it with pads on. What I took away was the angle at which it comes in is most important, then once the blades meet it arcs around there's striking them. This is just my take on it from the time we had to spend studying it. We used what we knew to work to try and decipher it. Hope this gives you a better understanding of my thought process.

@@Reddragonlongswordacademy You provide a very good explanation as to why, and what you show is a technique that works. I feel a bit the same when you are doing it slowly without gear and speed, but once you ramp up the speed, I feel like most of these artifacts disappear. In the zwechhauw example, you show you stop your opponent's sword. If you do the more shielhauw version, you do more of a punch out with the flat to half redirect it and half to kill the momentum and stability. I think Dustin Reagan has a decent example on his channel. I always appreciate seeing your interpretations of good working techniques, even if I sometimes have a different opinion about whether they correspond to the manual. Makes me want to get back to doing video interpretations as well.
