I would advise anyone travelling on the Glacier Express to St Moritz, to continue their journey the following day on the Bernina Express (or a regular Bernina line train) onwards to Tirano, just across the Italian border. Every bit as spectacular as the Glacier Express.

@@ebrahimbabakfar6129 Easily! It's 2.15 hours one way St.Moritz-Tirano (I), and there are hourly departures (not all Bernina-Express equipment, but that's irrelevant). I recommend breaking up the excursion at one of the intermediate stops like Brusio (for the spiral viaduct), Poschiavo (charming main settlement of the valley), Alp Grüm (for real glacier vistas) or a hike along Lago di Poschiavo.

Unbelievable! The Glacier Express is amazing! What an unforgettable journey! With absolutely beautiful & breathtaking scenery, charming & delightful homes & buildings! As well as, stunning Mountain Vistas, beautiful Valleys & Rivers & incredible Glaciers. All of this, along with such epic & brilliantly designed bridges. As well as, the intriguing tunnel entrances, which makes the Train seem to just 'disappear' into the Mountain. What a delightful & totally unique experience! A wonderful trip! Thank you! I loved the beautiful green meadows with yellow flowers, and the fantastic bridges. And of course, the snowy mountains. How did you get that drone footage of the train going across the viaduct? I loved seeing the source of the Rhine! We visited Germany in 2007, and crossed the river often during our trip. I even sat with my friend's WWII Vet father at the south side of Remagen and listened to his stories about crossing the besieged bridge with his U.S. Army unit in 1945. We also took a train from Bad Gastein to Salzburg while we were in Austria. It really does feel like you are at the top of the world.

The glacier express for reserving a seat is on this website. www.glacierexpress.ch/ you can then book the actual train ticket on sbb site look for 8.52 and 9.52 departures from Zermatt and it usually has a big red PE next to the train. If you expand the detail it should say Glacier Express service. Hope that help, book 93 days ahead!! 😃🇨🇭

Watching this was pure pleasure, you did an excellent job. I loved the calm narration interrupted by segments with soothing music and no comments at all. Considering you had to reserve your seats 93 days in advance I can't emphasize enough how incredibly lucky you were with the weather. With the best organization, THIS can't be ordered, and I know how the mountains look in rain and fog 😵💫😱. So happy, you hit a good day. Speaking of organization, excellent way - the best actually - to get your whole journey pieced together by benefitting from discounts hidden in the Swiss system. Thank you for the very clear explanations. I don't think a travel agent would have known about it. Good to know perhaps, that the ticket fare (only) is also included in the Swiss Travel Pass, available for 3, 4, 6, 8 or 15 consecutive days (Swiss Travel Pass Flex same days, but selectable). The Swiss Travel Pass is used by many foreign visitors who want to ride more than one single train. You purchased a first class ticket to hang out of the vestibule window for the most part of thr trip? Man, you made a sacrifice to get those magnificent images. A special thank you for that. I didnt know they installed windows to open on this air conditioned carriages. The new train sets with air condition on Rhaetian Railways' Albula line have windows to open on the multi purpose car used for storing the bicycles. They do cater to the photographers. One minor clarification not many will bother about (only railfans perhaps): The handover from the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn (MGB) on the western segment to the Rhätische Bahn (RhB) on the eastern segment takes place at Disentis (stress on the first syllable 😉), where you might have missed the engine change. The engine change in Chur is required only because of the reverse course of the train.

Fantastic video guys, the very best one I've watched for the Glacier Express. We've covered pretty much all of the Zermatt-St Moritz route over the past few years but have never travelled on the Glacier Express. I was due to travel on it in 1985 as part of a Kuoni 3 centre holiday. Stupidly I left London with an infection and by the time I got to St Moritz I could hardly breathe. so had to curtail the holiday. It's on the bucket list though.

Due to the damage to the railroad system in the Mattertal valley, the continuous line between Visp and Täsch below Zermatt remains closed until at least August 25. All Glacier Express trains will run exclusively between St. Moritz and Brig until the line is opened. On the route between St. Moritz and Brig the normal services are available and the departure and arrival times for all stops will remain as per the timetable. For Glacier Express travelers from/to Zermatt, an appropriate alternative transport service is in operation in an extra train from Zermatt to Täsch and separate buses between Täsch and Brig. Guests affected will be informed directly by Railservice Glacier Express as soon as possible. For departures from Zermatt, we recommend that you arrive at Zermatt station half an hour before the regular departure time. Our staff will then meet you there. Optionally, you can also board the train directly in Brig. Please refer to the timetable for departure times. If you have already booked for the time in question and decide not to take the Glacier Express journey as planned please contact our customer service directly

Arriving in Chur from Zermatt, observe the track used by trains traveling in the opposite direction after 7013 Domat/Ems. It has a long dual gauge section that almost reaches Chur's main railway station. At the platform of the Domat/Ems railway station, following the recent construction of a new shelter, the unusual rail of the 3 rails that form the double gauge track moves towards the inter-track. This is to prevent standard gauge trains from hitting the track side edge of the new shelter.
