Glacier grafting, or glacier marriage, is an ancient ritual in Gilgit-Baltistan where communities symbolically unite two glaciers, a "male" glacier and a "female" glacier, by transplanting ice to encourage new glacier formation.
This ritual is performed with prayers and offerings during the colder months to promote glacier growth and ensure a steady water supply for the village.
