I have not made a cent off this video: I can't make money from KZbin until I have 1,000 subscribers. Your subscribe would mean a lot to me!
While working in Glacier National Park over the summer at the Many Glacier Hotel, I witnessed this crazy occurrence. The Mama Moose had twins, and after several days of stalking them, the bear got the first baby. However, when he went for the second baby, this is what happened.
It's been just over a month since this happened, and as far as we can tell the baby moose is still safe and sound due to the Mama Moose's courage and constancy. Let's go, queen.
And yes, this is the original video and I have all rights.

I've backpacked in bear country, and most encounters were the sight of a bear's rear-end as it ran away. But my most nervous encounter was face to face with a moose on a narrow trail in a mountaintop in Maine. I literally had nowhere to go except into the thick bushes, and the moose walked by and completely ignored me. The size of these things is astounding.

I’m from Quebec and moose are known to be unpredictable. Years ago my wife and I crossed into Maine and the border guard told us to be vigilant as it was late evening and moose were sighted. We spotted 17 moose on the road that night. Took us 2 hours to do 40 miles. One stood in the middle of the road and when we approached he started running alongside our car like a moose wingman. He was about a foot away from my door. A park ranger in New Hampshire told us moose have no sense of where to go when faced with danger. This makes for unpredictable behaviour. Great video. Montana is a beautiful state.

yea with a bear you can kinda read the behavior and it can too, so you might be ok, but looking at a moose is like looking at a car from a horror movie. it stands like dumb and youre not sure if its even noticing you and then its running either your direction or some other. i guess that why many dont even acknowledge their existence. theyre like giants of the forest who live their own life and no one can grasp it

I'm not convinced there is one there. Moose despise bears because they do take their calves, so this one didn't need any more provocation than the bear approaching it too near. After the moose gave it time to reconsider and move off, it correctly assesed the bear was entertaining stalking it. As you know, moose have strong fight or flight reactions, and this moose was in the water where it was vulnerable, so it chose fight and went on the offensive. Bears swim just fine, so swimming away was not an option for the moose.

I was on Cobble Hill and heard this crashing getting louder. I found a solid tree to duck behind and this moose came running through the woods at full out speed breaking limbs off trees and ripping out brush. Maybe 50 ft fr me and I wasn't even a blip on his radar. Impressive and scarey at the same time

I lived in Juneau, Alaska from 1972-75, Kodiak from 1977-79, and Anchorage from 1979-2017. Been to Fairbanks and worked where the oil pipeline begins in Prudhoe Bay. Face to face with many bears and moose over the years. I've told a bear to go home and it did. (easier to do when your buddy has a shotgun and you have a .44 magnum) But the most tense encounter was suddenly discovering during a hike in the rain that I was six feet from a moose...A cow with a calf...wait, two calves!...Holy crap, three calves! Eye contact was unnerving, like: "You best be cool." "I am cool, cool ,cool, just passin' through." "Keep on going." "Yes Ma'am!"

When I was young I was on a camping trip and we got stuck in a construction zone. Out of nowhere a bull moose came running out of the woods and charged headlong into a bulldozer. I can still remember the dull, wet "thud" as its head slammed into the dozer blade. It simply began to walk away, stopped for a moment and turned its head back and gave the dozer a look as if to say "That's right. And there's more of that waiting for you if you don't smarten up'. That bear never stood a chance.

Was driving East out of Yellowstone on backroads a year ago. Got to the hotel, turned on the TV. Local news reported a car hitting a moose 2 hours after I had passed along the same road. Two people in the vehicle died, moose survived. People don't appreciate how massive and tough moose are. Look at the ceiling of wherever you're sitting right now; an adult moose's head would touch that ceiling.

@@vicpnut1 The door is not a foot off the ground. It's 2-3 inches. The display they run past, a truck in the background, and a fire hydrant all provide size references/comparisons. The moose is female according to the description (and the lack of antlers), so it's going to be smaller than a bull moose. The bear, from all the comparisons I can make looks to be either young or female. Towards the end, there's also what appears to be a manhole cover, as well as that sign outside the building. You can even get a sense of the height of the concrete sidewalk that the bear runs next to.

I went backpacking in the mountains of Colorado in 2018. When we were all waking up and getting ready to pack out, an adolescent moose walked through our camp. Mama moose was thirty feet or so behind him watching. All we could do was stand still quietly and wait for the baby moose to move along, which he did. It was an exciting and terrifying experience considering my pistol would only have served to anger the moose if she had felt so inclined to attack. Nature is crazy.

I got a job in Wyoming in the Big Horn mountains.....Meadowlark Lodge was the lake lodge that was the base for the employees and my cabin was on the lake there, got to see loads of Moose, but there they always kept their distance. There is a wooded lodge area down the road going West and I stayed there first though and I was told not to even worry about bears, I was told to be deathly afraid of Moose, especially during mating seasons or if it were a momma Moose. I got charged by a bull moose coming out of my cabin once and I got to see 2 moose lock horns and fight for about 15 minutes, but I never saw a bear. I think I know why now. That bear was terrified! :43 - :44 You can hear when the Moose is running, suddenly it starts clomping and sounds like horse hooves, cause the thing is lifting its legs up high when running and hoping to bring them down with serious force on that bears back or hindquarters. I would imagine had that bear gotten hit just right with a single stomp, it could have gotten its back broken. Terrifying the amount of aggression a Moose can have, and how good they are at charging!
