Gladiator was definitely an epitome for its making and also giving such goosebumps moments of bgm and heroism for 90s , 24 years before.... Unfortunately, felt so bad when Arjun did a replica with premise and most big kodumai called Durai (2008), if someone had a chance - watch that 😅😅

Durai has similarities with "History of Violence" a lot. In one scene, there's a rowdy, who don't have one eye like Johnny Torino/Carl Fogarty asks Arjun whether he's Durai or not, just like in "History of Violence".

Nope.. it makes it pointless since the whole driving point for the hero is to kill him for major part of the movie.. later he gets another purpose which doesn't feel organic

He had a personal loss because of that general and it would still be effective if he tried to kill him no matter how good of a guy that General is. I don't know how the movie handled this but it would be really interesting to see an antagonist who's actually not a bad guy but still caused a huge personal loss in protagonist's personal life. I don't think it's pointless unless the story didn't do a good job in handling it well.
